    InterContinental - Melbourne

We're planning an night in the city next month for our wedding anniversary & I like the look of the InterContinental (next to The Rialto).

Have you ever stayed there? Do you recommend somewhere else instead?

Not sure about the InterContinental, but the Sofitel and the Westin are beautiful.

Yes I was looking at the Sofitel - sooo nice. We wanted to be able to walk to Crown for movies etc, is that doable?

Can you tell we don't get into the city very often

We stayed at the Intercontinental for our anniversary a couple of years ago or maybe last year? (can't remember). The rooms are fantastic but I rate the Sofitels service etc... over the Intercontinental. You'd have to get a taxi from the Sofitel to Crown and the likes

It would be a fair walk to Crown but very easy on the tram. There is also an arty cinema in the same building at the Sofitel.

If you do stay at the Sofitel I'd recommend Cumulus Inc for breakfast. Uber chic and yummy.

If it's next to the Rialto, it's a 15 min walk to crown, tops.

How about the Vibe Savoy? It's easy walking distance to Crown (down the same end of town) and very nice. We had our wedding night there, very nice, it was called The Savoy back then
Also remember to check wotif for the hotels you are interested in for a good deal, there were a few for Vibe Savoy.

The vibe savoy is 1 block away from the intercontinental.
I'm not sure who told you it was at the other end of town from crown, it's not.

I've stayed there when it was just the savoy and it was very nice then, but that was 8 years ago.

Perhaps they were talking about the sofitel which is right up other end of Collins St.

Thank you again for all your input. We decided on the Crown Promenade, got a fantastic deal & are going tomorrow night. I'm so excited! After the start to year we've had I think DH & I deserve to spoil ourselves
