    Newbie Questions!

I'm so new, I don't even know what the difference between a sewing machine and an overlocker is... could someone please tell me!

Hi! I've been thinking of getting a machine of some sort that er... sews. My resolution for this year (and life, hopefully!) is to use and/or upcycle pretty much everything that is sitting in cupboards or gathering dust. My first project is going to be to make cushion covers from our old tshirts. My second is going to be to make some of Jacko's clothes from our old tshirts, my third is going to be making shopping bags from...yup, you guessed it ... we have a lot of old tshirts!!

    So my questions are:
    1. How addictive will this new hobby of mine be?
    2. How quickly should I expect the addiction to take hold?
    3. What am I buying?
    4. Where is the best place to buy second-hand? (that you know of)
    5. Is it pretty easy to teach yourself how to sew?

    Thanks in advance!!!

Hey Krystals.. Im pretty new to the whole sewing thing as well...
Definitions of Overlocker: An overlock stitch sews over the edge of one or two pieces of cloth for edging, hemming or seaming. Usually an overlock sewing machine will cut the edges of the cloth as they are fed through (such machines are called ‘sergers’), though some are made without cutters. ...

A sewing machine is a textile machine used to stitch fabric or other material together with thread.. (ahh google my best friend)

I got a Brother LS2150 from Target for $180 at Christmas time... My MIL who is a seamstress thinks that the machine is great, and the first project I made was a handbag (with help from my MIL)... I am always looking on ebay for patterns, and tend to head out to spotlight to have a look.. But now that I have an idea of what I am doing.. Im hooked..

I dont know about teaching yourself, MIL helped me with the basics and I managed to make another handbag all by myself.. so it doesnt seem to hard..
