    Cetrotide starts tonight

    Hi Ladies
This is my first cycle. I am on Gonal F and Cetrotide. BT today showed that I need to start cetrotide tonight.....Day 5 of Gonal. I have no idea why, but I feel stressed. I did Google it and this seems normal. Is it?

How long after would ER be? I know it's down to the doc, but any educated guesses? I am trying not to do too much research as I think I would start getting stressed out. I am taking it one step at a time.

Stupid work issues are the major stress right now. I have an important day at work coming up and I am betting that will be ER day!

cetrotide will stop ovulation until it's "supposed" to happen - lets them build up the estrogen levels and keep stimming, without your body doing what it naturally wants to do

i usually had cetrotide from day 6-ish for anywhere up to five days, depending on how i was travelling, then i'd have a trigger shot (always more than 24 hours after the last cetrotide) and EPU would be around 36 hours post-trigger

good luck (and hope you don't need too many days of cetrotide - from memory, it's nasty exxy! lol)

Hun, wishing you all the best for your cycle! I know it might be hard to do, but please try to eliminate any stress that you might be under ATM. Also, if all goes well and you have your transfer, try and take a couple of days off work and just veg out. I've had 2 cycles of IVF (2 embryos from the one cycle both resulted in pg, one was fresh and one was frozen) and I took time off both times to relax & mainly be away from my stressful job.

Briggsy's girl - Thanks so much. I was thinking the days on cetrotide would be something like that. Not looking forward to cetrotide or the trigger, but I guess I should be happy if we get to the trigger!

Miss.B - Thank you for your tip. I am trying to guess-timate when ER would be so that I can book time off work. I don't want it to affect anything so booking time off rather then rushing around is my way of staying relaxed. Will have to see the boss tomorrow morning to discuss it, but I'm not going to worry about that either!

Yukky tonight so going to watch a movie x

For what it's worth, I started the cetrotide on Day 7 of the gonal and did the OPU four days later. Hope this helps!

Briggsy's Girl - I didnt have to pay for the gonal f (or any of the drugs for that matter). I guess it must be included in the overall cost. If you dont mind me asking, which clinic did you go through?

Oh, yeah...I was STUFFED the whole time -- good excuse though!!!

I was through a regional clinic for monash. The cetrotide costs were paid to the clinic but were on top of normal cycle costs. Stim drugs were included in price

I went to bed straight after the injections last night, and I am still sleepy. When I get home from work today I will go straight to bed for a nap. Taking all the advice given. I am also quite bloated now. Trousers are getting tighter. Two bruises from the cetrotide. Also DH let go of the gonal f needle whilst it was inside my thigh. It wobbled around a lot and then bled. I was not a happy camper! ouch!

My gonal f is also included in the fee we have paid. I guess it's all inclusive. he he. My FS has said I should have a general for the egg retrieval. I have to pay for that. Still waiting for the scan though, so I have no idea which position we are in.......waiting.........

I have just had my EPU yesterday and can honestly say I too was sleepy throughout the stimming, kept thinking I was imagining it....
I would go with your Doc's recommendation and take the general for EPU, I am a scaredy cat (not from pain just from having to be awake to watch it)and would have demanded it anyway but as it turned out its the only way my clinic do it now....
I started Cetrotide on day 6 of Gonal F (CD7) and had it until CD 13, a couple of days longer than the doctor was counting on, only because my recommended EPU fell on a Saturday (hospital doesnt do day surgical procedures on the weekend) so they kept me going for another couple of days.
I was only going to take yesterday off (work is a bit busy at the moment) but felt alittle 'ordinary' last night after the anesthesia wore off that I decided to relent and take today off too.
    Good Luck for your cycle

Hmmm I was thinking about having two days off. I think it would be best.

I started cetrocide on day 5 of Gonal F (CD6). So I will be earlier then CD 13 I assume, but all this assuming is making me tired. So I'll just wait til after the scan.......Getting fed-up with trying to predict. I should stop that and chill a little more. I hear you all saying that so I will listen

    Any other tips?

    I am learning so much

I didnt start the gonal f until cd 3 so it seems you started the stim earlier in the cycle than me. As mentioned previously i did my pick up on cd 14.

Hmmm so I've still got a while then. Only on cd7 today (I think). So cetrotide started on cd 5 after only 4 days of gonal f by itself.....................Man I am getting confused. I will find out tomorrow.

Oh yeah and today lots of EWCM! tmi? he he

W - i had trigger on day 11 on one of my (many) stim cycles, day 10 on another, day 13 on another - so don't fret on other cycles and timing - it will happen when it happens

i would suggest taking the day after EPU off - if they give you a general, even a light one, you're not supposed to do anything for 24 hours (meaning no driving, nothing that requires complete lucidity in decision making...)
