Personally, I wouldn't go. Not with a baby that small. I know she is fully bf, so should get some immunity from that, but I would be thinking about myself or one of the other family members giving her something too.
DH is keen for Bali and has found a good deal, but our baby will be just over 2 months. We would stay in Nusa Dua, so not in tourist packed Kuta. I have just heard a few dodgy stories about illness coming out of Bali at the moment and it worries me. What do you think, too risky?

I also wouldn't go with a bub that small. To me Bali would just be too risky when she is so little! My DD is 6.5 months and I wouldn't even take her now ha ha!
I wouldn't that young, 8wks is very young!
Yep I agree, just wanted to know that I'm not being paranoid as DH thinks its fine.
I wouldn't either. I don't know if I could take my kids at the age they are, but I am paranoid about things like that! I've been to Bali (pre-kids) and loved it, but while there the two friends we went with got soooo sick they ended up going home early. DH & I were so lucky not to have gotten sick.
I have been before with no problems and also had no problems in Malaysia. You really have to watch what you eat and drink though.
I told DH and he agreed in the end she's too young to go.
Oh I probably would! At that age they are mire transportAble and there us an excellent hospital and medical centre there if you needed
I guess it depends where you would stay....
Plus you did say you were looking good in bathers!,,,
As a travel agent I have to say I wouldnt advise it. I have booked families with babies that you and its made me cringe.
Dont get me wrong I totally believe in the saying that your life doesnt stop for a baby but I wouldnt take one that young, 7 or 8 months maybe but not 2 months. Sterilising bottles etc will be a nightmare and Id be forever paranoid....not much of a holiday really.
I personally wouldn't take a 2mth old yet. They are too small and helpless... when she is 8-9mths old I would prob go..
but it has to be something you and DH are completely comfortable with!
Why would you need bottles Amy? I certainly wouldn't take a baby that young that needed to be bottle fed as cleanliness would be a big concern, plus how hard would it be to travel with all that stuff!? But a breastfed baby I think would be fine. My main concern would be what would happen if they did get sick but if they are breastfed they are certainly not going to get sick from eating anything! And even if you do, lots of handwashing is all you need to not pass anything on. I guess the other concern is how you will be coping with everything by then - an unsettled baby can be really hard work and tiring and you might not feel much like a holiday or anything out of the ordinary.
We took DS1 interstate at 3 months and DS2 was 3 months when we went to Vanuatu, and I think that's a very easy age for travel. Pop them in a sling to soothe and carry them, pop them on the boob to feed them - too easy!! Bali we didn't do until DS2 was somewhere between 18 months and 2 years and the boys have been 3 times now. Every time they have been fine - if you are careful with where you eat and drink you are far less likely to get sick. I don't think it's difficult in Bali with kids - especially mine who eat everything.
You just answered you own question hahaha!!! Clearly if you are bottle feeding you would require bottles, if you are breast feeding you would not.
Keep in mind that if you are breast feeding and get Bali belly and are dehydrated.... Anyway, this is just my personal opinion and from the feedback that I have been given from clients who have taken children that you...feel free to take it how you wish.
Aim x
I am breastfeeding her so that would make it easier. Bottles definately make it harder, but that being said we took DD#1 to Malaysia when she was 11 months and lugged over her bottles and formula and had to buy huge bottles of water once there, it wasnt too bad. Still we discussed it and we wont be going, not comfortable with it just yet. We do have a Bali trip planned though for mid year and she will be 6 months, which will be fine in my opinion.
That's great Isadora that you have made a decision that you are happy with. 6 months will be a lovely age and I'm sure you'll have a wonderful time.
yeah Isa that will be great! enjoy!
Hope I didnt make anyone 'cringe' by saying i would go (i certainly dont judge those that dont go, but i thought it was worth giving the point of view that it is doable and may even be enjoyable)... i have travelled quite a bit with both my boys and it has always been great... i guess it depends on you/your kids and your lifestyle and what you are expecting from the trip....
I know what you mean MP!!! I was so tempted to go, but just in the back of my mind I was thinking hmmm 2 months, just a bit too young for my liking.
I would. I have a few different friends that have travelled with a baby that age & they have reported it is an excellent age to travel, especially on the plane.
Yep I would.... we took DD to Fiji at 10mths, and again to Thailand and Malaysia just recently at 22mths of age.....
They love babies over there!! I think Bali is just as safe as any other destination you travel to - bad things happen EVERYWHERE.
If you were bottle feeding that would be super challenging but thankfully you are BF!!![]()
