Top Teeth & BF

Hey all,
So looking for some advice/tips.
DS is almost 10months old and cut his top two front teeth in the last month. They are moving down slowly and are finally almost all the way through. in the last week he cut the two eye teeth next to them - and they aren't thru very far yet.....

But just in the last few days his two front teeth seem to be in the way of bf and they are causing significant pain. He is not biting down on me on purpose and so i don't feel that i can scold him; but these two teeth rest on the start of my areolas at the base of my nipples and it is quite painful. So every time he sucks in they dig in and when he is swallowing they just rest and don't hurt. (hope that makes sense). He is latched perfectly and no different from before; so i'm not sure where to go from here?
At the end of his feed i have two painful indents from his teeth.

Support his head again really well - like he was a little wee one. It's the weight of his head that is bearing down on the teeth!
Also try feeding lying down, and paradoxically stuff as much nipple as you humanly can in there to spread the load.

I could have written your post word for word just a month ago! The pain was almost unbearable, but I just pushed through it for the sake of my DD.

And yup, like Kmn mentioned it is the positioning you need to change. Your DS teeth are inadvertently pulling down on your breast, and he has no idea he is doing it. In addition to the methods above, you could also sit your DS more upright, or put a cushion underneath him to get him closer to the boob.

Thanks ladies; laying down today didn't help - I guess it's time to leave our beloved rocking chair and move to the couch where there is more room for cushions. Thanks i will try changing his head position ~ does any which way work more often than another?

I found having DD more upright with her head to the side of my boob rather than underneath it better as she (or her teeth!) couldnt pull down on it that way.

Exactly what Manhattan said worked for us too. My DS had all 16teeth at 11months (within the space of a month) and it took me a little while to figure out new positioning. We had to move from the glider to a chair ( usually in front of the computer) so he was more sitting in my lap.

Yes i have a glider too and i dont want to give it up! haha
