    Best steak recipe?!

    Hi There!

Has anyone got a good steak recipe where the steak is seasoned well and has lots of flavour? And also a good sauce/gravy that goes well with it? My steaks are always so boring and plain...

Tonights dinner will be (I think unless I change my mind) steak with potato fritters and salad. Just need a yummy steak recipe now!!

PS... would potato fritters even go with steak and salad??!! DH has requested that I make potato fritters and I don't know what they will go with nicely...

I just season well with salt, pepper and olive oil. Heat the pan up with nothing in it, add the steak make sure you leave it alone until nice and brown on the bottom, flip it over and do the same then turn the heat down and cook through to you're liking.

Then I take the steak out and rest it, deglaze the pan with wine or stock or even both and then because I'm lazy I through in a little water and gravox to thicken it up!

I have big cravings quite frequently for a good steak - just salt and pepper and oil, as toomany said. But I generally put something else with it - make a mushroom & tarragon sauce by frying up some mushrooms after the steak is out with the meat juices and some extra oil, once they're softened add some chopped tarragon (can be from a jar), some cream and a decent splash of white wine. Let it simmer and reduce slightly and then serve over the top of your steak. Or chop leeks, mushroom and bacon and fry them up together until nice and crispy and serve over the steak.

Now I think I might have steak for dinner
