    Cutting out a day sleep?

When did your child cut back to one day sleep? DD is sleeping all night but only having 2 x 20 minute day naps at 10.5 months. Should I try cutting a morning sleep and see if she has one long sleep instead?

DS was about 16 months when he dropped his afternoon sleep.

Is the short naps a problem? I'd be inclined to just leave her be. She might just need that short power nap to recharge. Having said that most children need an hour + day sleeps up until 3 or 4 years old so that little sleep at her age is unusual (DS - 19m - has dropped all his day sleeps now though and is fine).
You could give it a go and see what happens, you'll soon know if it's not working for her.

My DD is 10.5 months old and has cut back to one morning nap over the past 2 weeks. I'm still unsure that this is right for her as we have some days where she is uber cranky but that could be related to teeth.

I say if she is happy, just leave it be. She'll end up working it out herself anyway I think.

My DS dropped his second nap at about 12mo. It took about 2 months to re-establish his daily routine. Some days during the transition, he still needed 2 naps but would stay up later at night.

    Thanks

I really think she needs more sleep. By tea time she is so grizzly and unhappy and at times gets almost hyper I think from being overtired.

She's never been a great day sleeper but not this bad!

We are going away for the weekend so perhaps next week we'll see what happens trying just one sleep.

DS dropped down to one day sleep at about 13 months - took a bit of readjustment - and every few days he would need to go back to 2 sleeps - so for about a month it was up and down. And DD (4years), well she was an entirely different matter, she was always hard to get to sleep day or night....

We dropped back to one late morning nap around 13ish months. We thought her constant night waking was due to her sleeping so much through the day but its not made any real difference.

We aim for 11am and she usually sleeps for 2 hours. Her bed time is 8-8.30 but only coz we struggle to get everything ready before then so by tea time she is usually a mess.

It was hard keeping her awake until 11 and even now she still struggles some mornings, she tuckers out so quick.

Now it just makes thing awkward planning days out etc coz she takes soooooo long to eat lunch its 3pm by the time she is ready LOL
