I want to buy some fabric!

I'm looking for some fabric, I need at least a few metres of polar fleece or micro fleece or something similar. Also some flanelette, a few metres of any colours. Or if anyone knows of a good cheap online fabric store please let me know - there are no fabric stores anywhere near the town I live in.

    Thanks in advance

My Mum recently ordered from a US site, fabric dot com (or might have been fabrics) - it arrived last week and she said it is amazing stuff. Great quality and great price. Maybe check it out? She bought cordouroy (sp?) and denim for winter pinafores

Yeah they have some great stuff! I think it took about 1.5-2 weeks, she's in country WA so would be faster for metro areas. Happy shopping!

I went to that website and they had heaps of really cheap fabrics (like $3.98 p/yard on sale!!) but postage was $48.95 AUD!!! OUCH.

I found Etsy to be the cheapest! Michael miller and jennifer paginelli are amazing fabric designers!

Woah MrsBexie - Mum didn't tell me how much postage was, I just assumed it was about $20. Yikes! Might have to ask her what she paid. I want to order more fabric to make those bloomers

Mrs Bexie - I almost bought some fabric, it was all so beautiful and cheap! But like you, when I got to checkout I had to cancel it. My postage was over $70!! Couldn't justify it so I called Spotlight (nearest one is over 100km away) and ordered over the phone and had the fabric delivered. They have a flat postage of $6, and I had ordered about 13 metres of corduroy!

It's generally because of the weight and bulk that fabric shipping prices are high (from OS)

Craft depot have some good specials a lot of the time

Oooh MrsBexie that sounds dangerous!! Have told myself I can't buy fabric until I a) learn how to use my machine! And b) make 2 pairs of ruffle butts and some normal nappy covers using some super cheap material I got for practicing.
But of course I really just want to buy LOTS of gorgeous fabrics! Found some great stuff on sew mama sew, postage only US$12.95 for 2 pounds material (about 5 yards)...

I got the Bettsy Kingston Crossover & Reversible Pinny & Nappy Cover pattern.

    And the following fabrics:
Summer Flowers Pink ~ Sugar Pop
Summer Flowers Chartreuse ~ Sugar Pop
For a pinny of some sort... and matching nappy cover

    Cherries Purple ~ Hoopla
    Chots Purple ~ Hoopla
    Chots White ~ Hoopla
For ruffle butts! And will probably co-ordinate a cut-out onto some singlets.

    Polka Dot White ~ Hullabaloo
Polka Dot Steel Blue ~ Hullabaloo
For a reversible pinny and nappy cover(s)

Just small lengths, hopefully enough for the projects though! From sew mama sew, was less than $60 inc postage. Most fabrics were on sale and under US$7/yard, the most $$ was the Hullabaloo at US$9.50/yard.

But now I am definitely on a fabric ban! Although I am currently googling sewing blogs and looking at Oliver + S patterns.

I also bought a sewing box today and some super-cheap fabric from a local store (4m for $10!) just to play around with. 4 different patterns, not overly pretty but I'm only starting out so I don't want to ruin the good stuff just yet! And tomorrow I am signing up for a set of sewing courses (very excited) to do throughout the year. So I have spent all my bday spending $$ now but am happy

What did you buy MrsBexie? How's the ruffle butts going? Did you make pinnys yet?
