    Please help....

Have been charting for the last 2 months and have had my first cycle at 32 days and my second at 29 days.
Not exactly sure when I have definatley O'd.
But can someone explain to me what the coverline is ? I know that you want your temp to stay above it but how do you know what it is?

Also I have trouble figuring out my CM. Does anyone have any tips to record it accurately?

Im using FF to chart and taking my temp roughly same time each morning.

We are trying for a girl so i guess ideally would like to BD on days 9-12??

Not sure how to show you my chart?

Any help or advice is much appreciated!!

    Hi Saramac

I'm certainly not an expert but as far as I'm aware the coverline is simply a visual aid to show you the biphasic pattern between pre-O and post-O temps. The estrogen causes body temp to be lower while progesterone causes body temp to be higher which is why you get the biphasic pattern. It is usual for the post-O temps to stay above the coverline until AF though it is not uncommon to have a couple below the coverline, which is nothing to really worry about as every woman is different. I often have a couple of pre-o temps above the coverline and a couple of post-o temps below it. Just look for the overall pattern.

To show the chart, go to the homepage on FF and find the URL then you can copy that into a bb post or add it to your signature (see mine below).

As for CM, again certainly no expert and I keep reading ff and bb for tips on identifying. Basically what I have read says record the most fertile CM you have in a day. You can check several times a day either externally or internally. Unlike CP which I was told to only check once per day at the same time. I use the notes section in the specific tab on FF to make notes so I can come back and decifer CM later if needed.

As for trying for a girl, i guess it depends on how long your luteal phase is as to the best days to BD. If your LP is 14 days then CD9-12 is good timing.

    Good Luck with it all

Yep, your chart is up now.

The reason FF has given you a broken line is because that's when the program thinks you have O'd but is not sure becasue there is conflicting or missing information - particularly temps. Once you have a couple more cycles in there and if you are able to get all of your temps recorded (at the same time each day and after min 3hrs consecutive sleep) you will get a better idea of when you O etc. If you take you last chart as gospel you O'd on CD23 so BD on CD 12 would have been way early, but it's hard to tell coz of the misisng temps from CD12-15.

If you haven't already joined one of the TTC buddies groups, have a think about it. I've just left the 1-6 months group for the 6+months group but have found both to be very helpful in getting second opinions and keeping me sane.

Look's like FF has it wrong and you O'd on CD18. That is when you had the big temp increase and the most fertile CM. Unfortunately your cycle varies by 3 days, so bd'ing only CD9-12 might mean you miss the boat on any gender! Best of luck with it, unfortunately using O-2 to time for a girl is very hard with irregular cycles.

    Thanks guys.

Yeah there were a few days i didnt get my temp.

I try to take my temp every morning between 6.10-6.30am. If my 2 yr old wakes me at say 5 am and i get out of bed for 1 min to go and settle him then go back to sleep till 6.30am , is my temp still accurate??
