When did you first feel movement with your twins or more?
Hi Ladies,
I'm just curious to know when you all first felt, or suspected you felt movement with your multiples! I figure that maybe it would be earlier than with a single bub since there is less space in there?
I'm already experiencing things that would normally be happening much later - tummy stretch marks, back pain, ridiculous gas, and all those lovely things - so I was just trying to gauge when I can expect to be feeling some movement!
I probably felt my first flutters at about 14 weeks this time around but only from my baby on the right hand side. Our guy on the left's placenta is anterior (at the front) so this blocked a lot of his movements whereas the guy on the right's placenta is posterior (at the back) so felt his movements sooner.
I didn't get my first kick - that I felt - from lefty until Xmas day (18 weeks) and even then it took a few more weeks for them to start becoming more regular. Although now I feel everything. My lefty is more of a roller and squirmer and the righty is my kicking and punching baby, they already have there own personality traits even before they arrive.
I've been lucky as the stretch marks have only just started in the past couple of weeks (my tummy is now measuring full term for a singleton so not surprising) and get used to back pain as it doesn't get any better . Mmmm and gas is such fun, I've now hit the indigestion stage as my tummy is almost up in my throat and I am also getting numbness in my thighs, although I had this with DD as well.
Are you having identicals??? Even though I'm having 2 boys we have to wait to find out if they are identical as they both have their own placenta's and sac's so they could be fraternal or identical if the egg split by day 4. How frequently are you being scanned for TTTS?? I am having 4 weekly scans to check growth only as my boys have there own placenta they don't share the same food source and won't get TTTS.
Wow 14 weeks isn't so far off for us! DH keeps asking me all these questions - 'when do we feel them move?' 'When do we find out the sex?' - and I'm just like I know as much as you do, honey!
I already have a very bad back from an accident I had while being a stupid tweenager, so I'm wondering if my OB will give me anything to help the pain, special instructions or something, I dunno!
We have been told they're most likely identical but OB said that at this stage detecting the membranes between them is like catching a spider web in the right light, and we'll have more of an idea later on. I'm going to the OB roughly every 4 weeks and he does a scan while I'm there, but I would prefer it if I could get them more regularly! Its my first time so I worry a lot lol.
You know, I'm kinda worried that they might beat each other up in there...
We found out the sexes of our boys at our 16 week growth scan so really isn't too far off for you. Right from our first scan at 7 weeks we had a definate membrane showing a divide between the 2 babies - and as for back pain you might need to look at either a SPD pregnancy belt or SRC pregnancy shorts as I have heard they really help but they won't work for me as I am carrying so low neither would fit under me bump to be properly effective.
And as for them beating each other up, I can tell you for sure that it will happen. At our last scan at 24 weeks our lefty was head down and righty was breach and during the scan righty keep kicking his brother in the head. It even got to the stage that lefty was putting his arm over his face to try and block the blows, DH was amazed that they don't break each others noses or anything with all the hitting and punching.
But both my boys are now head down together (very uncomfortable for me) so they play wrestles and footy together - just without the ball
