Note from Yr7 teacher in DS diary

This is word for word, I'm a bit confused.

A is going well with the school work as A need to spend time at home to keep up with school work. Good start for the term tho. Well done.

So he's doing well but needs to do more work at home to keep up. So this would mean he is falling behind? So far the only homework they get is a maths sheet weekly. He is also their literacy teacher, spelling of though. It's not even a word to shorten especially as a note to parents. What do you think?

    Regards,
    Dianne

Hmmm that sounds odd. My first thought was that it was one of his friends mucking around?

I'm confused too and would seek clarification and I'm horrified that this teacher wrote 'tho'. Maybe they have a prac student in

The previous weeks note was hand written and this one is a printed note stuck in. I didn't even think of it maybe being another student .

I did ask him and he said their teacher was sticking these notes in all the children's diaries.

Sounds like the teacher needs to go back to school because that note contradicts itself and he can't spell. Call him

Hmmm... I'd think I'd have serious concerns about this person's ability to teach my child to use the English language correctly. Very odd. Obviously, you need clarification. Good luck in your search for answers, I hope a verbal explanation makes more sense!

ETA. Hahahaha! Just read this to DH as I was so appaled. He suggested taking a red pen to the note and marking corrections in spelling, underlining contradictory statements and making a comment on the bottom saying something to the effect of 'Please resubmit this work'.
    Yeah, he's a smart-a$5 but I love the idea!

Yeah I would call and ask what they meant?? I can't believe a teacher would write like that in a students diary!

I'd take it further too. As a parent who HATES text speak, he's teaching them thats its ok & I would NOT stand for it!

Have fun with the red pen

Do you really think it's a good idea to poke fun at someone who is teaching your son? Sure, call... but perhaps don't do the red pen thing!

It probably is that his teacher switched into facebook mode while typing out his note & that would explain the "tho". text speak as a PP put it.
But yeah just call or go in & ask as it was confusing. But he may simply mean your DS is Doing well & keeping up with the homework will keep him on track?

It's ok BW, I won't actually correct his grammar but was thinking of writing a note in the diary tonight just asking for clarification as it just doesn't seem to make sense.

Based on his questionable grasp of written English, I'd speak to him directly or on the phone.
