    What was this book called?

I remember in primary school there were books all the girls would hire out and I never could get my hands on them till after everyone else had read them. And for some reason I have the urge to read them :P

They looked like a scrap book but were a diary and had pictures in it i think. It was a young teen writing them if I remember.

I think her name was Penny? Can anyone help????

I think thats it....off to google it!!!!! thanks hunx

    It is it!

Penny Pollard hates old people, Annette Smurton (who has her own horse), wearing dresses and doing homework.

On a school excursion she meets someone just as rebellious as herself - Mrs Edith Bettany - (nearly) eighty-one years old and a new friend for Penny.
Aww I loved it sooo much hope I can buy it! x

I could squish you Kaydee thank you xxx

I just read that they released 5 (?) other Penny books after the original one became so popular (Penny Pollard's Passport, Penny Pollard in Print, Penny Pollard's Letters etc...).

Can I hijack your thread ??

Anyone remember the 'nightmare' series of youth books? They were supernatural books aimed at the youth market - it was like the 'apple' books, but it was called 'nightmare'... I've never seen them since my childhood

Also - there was a kids book I read (funnily enough, when I was a kid ) it had a fantasy theme and it had someone who had to live with some rellies and they called things odd names - like the phone was a speaking trumpet (or something like that) and they were from another time/place... I think it had 'attic' in the title Any bells??

It's still available in online bookshops.

If you're looking for other books, second hand from the UK or US, google Betterworld books or Abe Books, both have free delivery.
