    Recommend me a washing machine

Finally got all our stuff today, and I realised just how badly rusted my washing machine is. It has gotten to the point where there is no support on one side because it is rusted through. It is also leaking which wasn't a problem in my old place, but will be an issue here.

    So I need a new machine semi-urgently.

What do you have? What do you like/hate about it? I currently have a top loader but am willing to try front loaders. Also not to expensive, probably middle of the range.

    TIA

    Fisher and Paykell.
Ours is almost 10 years old, never had a single issue with it ever, works fabulously, is moderate on the water and energy ratings. Cost about $800 I think from memory.
It is a top loader, think a 8kg? Anyway, love it and will never buy anything but a F&P again.

ETA - just had a quick look online, the current model equiv. of ours is $877.

Same as LS, love our FP. We had one die a couple of years ago that was 11 years old and we just replaced it with an updated model of the same machine.

We have a FP aquasmart. I like that it's 8 kilos, has a nappy cycle and can be programmed up to about 15 hours in advance.

I hate that every other load it stops at either 37 or 10 mins to go saying my load is out of balance. Once it did this ten times and I had to restart in on a different wash cycle

Another F&P here too. Top loader, around 7.5-8kgs. Would be around 10-11 years old i think. The only problem we have ever had is the pump needing replacing (which i buy off ebay from a spare parts guy for about 50 bucks and DH just throws it in) Having said that, I do wash DH's dirty coal/mud infested work clothes in it, so it gets a HUGE workout from them. We paid a couple of hundred more than Limeslice paid for hers.
Would definately buy FP washing machine again (My FP dishwasher is another story though lol)

That is hilarious (well, not really, but you get what i mean) We bought the dishwasher because we were so impressed with the washing machine too. Mine is useful for filling a whole in the kitchen at the moment, but the kick panel down the bottom is falling off, so i think DH will be politely asked to remove it to the dump....Can't stand looking at it anymore.

I have an electrolux front loader and it sucks! The clothes come out dirtier than when they went in! I will not get a front loader again. They take ages to wash and don't do a very good job IMO. I've tried almost every washing detergent available and no difference to the cleanliness of the clothes. Grrrr I hate it!!!

I have a 8kg heavy duty Maytag and I love it!!
I have had it for 9 yrs and it has never skipped a beat (touch wood )
Obviously with my lot we go through a lot of washing and it handles it all and clothes always come out looking clean.

I have a Bosch. It has a 15 min cycle... and it's 1200 RPM which means the clothes come out just about dry. It's fantastic. It's a front loader, was about $1200, but worth every darn cent. I love it.

I sit in my toilet with the door open and admire my beautiful laundry... kind of like that guy who sits on the outdoor dunny admiring his roof...

I just got a new F & P on the advice of a washing machine repair man. It was on special at just under $700, takes 8kg and so far is great!

As soon as the money clears to my mastercard (damn you commonwealth and your computer hiccups delaying everything), it looks like I will be ordering a F & P 8kg top loader on the advice received here. I would love the bosch divvy but do not have the cash to buy one! Can't get delivery till April though
