I have read that if you have twins then your chances of concieving twins are higher the second time around.
I miscarried twins at about 9 weeks a year ago. there are twins on mum's side of the family.
What i would like to know is, is your likelness of falling pregnant with twins again only when you carry them to term or is it higher even if you have concieved them in the past.
It is related to conception, so given that you have conceived twins before, you would have a higher chance of conceiving twins than someone who has only had single conceptions.
I was having twins twice but one reabsorbed each time. Since then I have had singletons only and there are twins everywhere in my family. So not necessarily does it mean that you will end up with twins again
fraternal twins are hereditary (means two eggs at ovulation). This only occurs on a maternal lineage.
identical twins are pure luck (one egg, one sperm, splits within two weeks of conception)
The older you get and the more pregnancies you have the higher your chances of twinning.
Apparently their is a greater chance (albeit slight) if you are overweight.
Breastfeeding when you fall pregnant may also increse the likelyhood.
Lots of factors involved, no simple answer.
For you,, the big factor is that twins appear on your maternal line, and that you have already concieved twins. You may have the 'hyperovulation' gene. This would mean fraternal twins. There is only one way to find out if you are going to have twins again!
