DD is not vaccinated according to the schedule. I was worried about tetanus and also whooping cough now that I have DD2 so she got her first vaccination a month ago. She got Boostrix-IPV (Diptheria, Tetanus, Pertussis, Polio). That was the smallest number of vaccines I could get
Anyway, I know when they get that on the schedule they do it 2 months apart. The Dr tells me though that I should get them one month apart because that's what the vaccine people recommend, they only do them 2 months apart bc that is what the schedule is apparently. I didn't like the idea of having them closer together but she was telling me it's 'perfectly safe' and that I should get them done 1 month apart to have her up to date with that asap.
So, just wondering if you delayed this one what gap did you have between them?? What is the best gap?
And also how many doses? Just wanted to check she still needs the 3 doses of this one even though she's older bc I know with some when you're older you don't have to have as many doses. The Dr says she still needs 3 but I don't know if she actually looked into it or just assumed.
Ummm, I don't like the Dr's logic behind it. The schedule is the way it is for a reason. If there was any truth to what the Dr said about it, the Schedule would follow that. If it were me, I'd be waiting the longest I could before doing it again to give her immune system enough time to recover in between doses.
That's what I thought too Trillian. I asked what the longest time I could wait between doses was and she didn't tell me!! She just kept saying 'it's perfectly safe one month apart!' That's not what I was asking!! So annoying.
You are not getting researched info from your dr, so if you want considered answers to your questions you need to get another doctor or find other sources that you trust.
I don't know the answer to your question, but we go to the children's for vacs - theres an immunisation centre and they really seem to know their stuff. Maybe you could try calling your closest children's hospy?
They still need to have the same number of doses - so need to 'catch-up'.
Personally, I would stick with the SCHEDULED time frame. There is a reason that the schedule is 2 months, and not one, and I don't like your dr's logic either.
