What do you use a Jelly Roll for?

Just a random question..lol. Are they for making quilts or something? Have seen them in spotlight and other places and thought wow they are a bit expensive, but don't know what you would actually do with it, and how are they any better for their use than just buying fabric by the metre/yard/fat quarter?

    Yep for quilting
Expensive, but cuts back a lot of time on cutting fabrics. For easy quilt making

You can use them really for whatever. As far as your imagination will let you.
Simply sew together as it, or cut them into smaller squares/rectangles. Its really up to you and your motivation levels.
They are used to really just get you started on your quilt, still a lot of hard work ahead, but it gets you started..

mmmmm very dangerous.... says she who has bought about 40 yards of fabric I sew quite a range of things all for gifts and fun, clothes, taggies, blankets, bibs, bags, I am aiming for this year to make a majority of my gifts rather than buying them (enabling my fabric purchasing addiction!), I don't have time to make for others as I work full time as well, so love it as a hobby

I've got lots of fabric cut, I just need to get sewing. Have made a few taggies for friends babies and there's more to come and have had a few requests as well.
