Professional photos of C-section. Photojournalistic style
I have just been given the go ahead to have my very good mate, a fellow photographer in the OR with us. She is busily doing research and we are so excited. I am HUGE on photos and love the photos that are natural and unposed.
Apparently it is not a big thing here. Do you know of anyone who has had one? What photos would be a MUST? Any advice you might have as neither of us have ever attended a C- section so any helpful tips would be greatly appreciated.
Also if you happen to have any links to blogs of other photographers or websites, that would be appreciated.
I am so excited that this moment is going to be documented.
Wow those are full on.... I am not so sure if I keen on the whole pic of my tummy wide open. More thinking When bub comes out, my first expression and dads. ....Bubs on my chest ect... Bub does not even get weighed until after we have been settled in our room and will not leave my side. They are treasured photos for the mom I am sure, just envisioning something a little bit different. Thanks for the link though. Gives me a better idea of what I do not want and what I do. : )
We had a midwife taking pics for us and she got all the graphic ones as well as the nice ones and we are so glad that she did. We can now look back and see what actually happened and we get to see them bringing DD3 into the world little bit by little bit. If you don't want those sort of photos in the book then don't add them but still have them done as they are priceless later on (you can always make up a book for others to see with the nice ones iykwim)
I would have loved to do a caesarian birth when I was photographing them but never had the opportunity before i had to give it away. My OB has the most brilliant series of photos of him doing one in his office. They're a little gory but I still think they are beautiful.
I'd still get pictures of everything because you can always delete them if you don't want to keep them, but if they were never taken you may have regrets IYKWIM.
I decided after my last c-section that I would include one picture on my scrapbooking page as the album was for me... in Hayden's album the best I had to work with was a picture of the "string over my shoulder" holding my tummy open.... my husband is totally useless with the camera (he gets the shakes so lots of blurry pictures) so I doubt we'll get any good ones this time either
