Qld in april with 6 adults and 4 kids under 6

Ok so were going on a holiday in april for my cousins wedding my brother and sister are coming too with their kids. We have a DS3 we arnt taking a pram/stroller as they were going to charge us $50.00 each way on the plane. We are unsure about
1: renting a car - dilemma if we rent 1 im sure we will be asked if someone else can borrow it.
2: buying the bus pass that lets you travel unliminted around the gold cost at a cost of $100. per ticket including the 3yo.- do we need to book in advance as to where we are going to go?
3: hire a van of some sort split the moey 3 families.
The other problem is my brother (26) has anger issues and has been taking numerous drugs and drinks alot, so if he was to have a argument with someone (likely) it will ruin everyones holiday.
We had the smart idea of all stayig at the same place to save cost. my sister and her DH and DS16months are sharing a 2 bedroom appartment its only costing us $250.00 each family for 5 night. Obviously any suggestions will be greatful as we need it to be as cheap as possible.
    Thanks

Whereabouts in QLD are you going? just the Gold Coast or elsewhere?

If you're talking about a public transport ticket, contact Translink but I wouldn't think you would need to book if it's busses etc that you would be catching.

Personally I would be looking at hiring a car; having to rely on public transport can make scheduling difficult, life is much easier when you can come & go as you please. If you hire a van between you all then you all have to agree on what you are doing and when. I guess that's ok if you all want to do the same thing... I would be thinking if your brother has temper issues it might be good for you to have your own transport so you can have time out from each other if you need.

PM me if I can help

We hired a car last May for the week we were there, so glad we did!
As for others driving it, why not have everyone chip in for it if they want to use it? You can select an option now where it is covered by insurance no matter who is driving, so doesn't really matter if others want to drive it, you are still covered by the insurance. (Think it was an extra $100 or so)

I guess it would depend where you are going.. (ps i was meant to go to Dh's cousin wedding in April too) wonder if it was the same one

Anyways A lot of places hire prams, car seats ect.. Esp if nearer to the bigger cities

Renting a car is possibly a good idea but I like the idea of a van but at the same time if you have your own car you can go off and do stuff on your own as well..

Personally, I'd be hiring a car or van. I'm not a fan of public transport with kids on holidays - too easy to get stuck or stranded for longer than anticipated and be waiting in the rain etc. Plus if something happens and you need to get to a GP or the hospital or something, taxis are expensive, especially seeing the Gold Coast is so sprawled out, and waiting with a sick or injured kid at a bus stop is not going to be fun (obviously fingers crossed that nothing like that happens, but you have to prepare for everything). Aussienic's right - all the theme parks etc hire out prams etc.

Are you doing the theme parks and attractions while you're here? Can give you advice on deals and good places to go if you like
