    Question DD's belly button

I'm starting to get really worried, it just doesn't look normal to me.

When she was born she had an umbilical hernia which the doctors insisted would disappear on its own as she gets older.

But i've noticed lately that when she has a full belly that her belly button pokes all the way out, like almost looks inside out. We poke and push it in and she doesn't seem bothered but i'm still worried.

My mum said hers looked like that and she required surgery when she was 8 to correct it.

Should i get it looked at or is it fine?

I wouldn't be concerned about it, DS1 still has a hernia (he just turned 4) they said to us that it would depend on how bad it was by the time he was 2 years old whether they surgically fixed it or not. It' only about 1cm long now and is always out. It doesn't bother him and the hole is getting smaller as he grows

DS2 also has a bit of a hernia, he's 20 months, and in the last 6ish months has gone from being sticking out to being level with his tummy. This happened after he was constantly walking.

If it isn't causing any issues for her, then I wouldn't worry about it right now.

I wouldn't stress too much about it if it doesn't seem to be bothering her, maybe just get your GP or MCHN to look at it next time you are there?

My DD is 18 months and her umbilical hernia is full out!
It isn't something that medically needs to be fixed asap so they tend to leave them to see what they do.

Don't be too concerned, there are a lot more of them out there than you think

I have a nearly 5yo with one too. When I worked in theatre at the kids we did them but only if medically necessary or if the parents insisted hard enough. I can't find a good enough reason to insist on a GA for Darc, so it stays.
