Wish I could press rewind on this afternoon...

Just need to offload this, feeling pretty crap. I know none of what happened was intentional, but still feeling crap.

Firstly, DD has a ball pit that she loves to dive into. Throw herself head first into. Does it most days. The last few days it's had a pop up tent over it that she dives through the opening into the ball pit, must be great fun! Well this afternoon I moved the tent across the room and scooped up some the discarded balls and just threw them in the bottom of the tent.

I turned just in time to see DD dive through the opening of the tent into the balls, but there was no soft cushiony ball pit holding them. She went face first onto the tiles, split her top lip which blew up like a balloon so quickly and she just screamed. She calmed down pretty quick and sucked on a cold teether, all in all she's okay, just a bit wary of the ball pit now and wasn't keen on any hard foods. No major damage I know, but I still feel awful for it.

Then, DH comes home and is cooking dinner that had chilli in it. DD went to get into the kitchen bin and he took her by the wrist and moved her away, then the next thing she must have touched her wrist, rubbed her eyes and just started the most awful screaming as some of the chilli juice must have got to her eyes. Her screaming just made my heart almost stop. I didn't know what had happened but just knew something was in her eyes and jumped straight in the shower fully clothed and ran her under the shower for about 10 minutes. All of a sudden she just stopped screaming and started playing in the water. After another few minutes I gave her a proper bath, her eyes and the skin around them were quite red, but she was happy as anything. Within half hour almost all red gone, all back to normal. DH felt awful but it wasn't intentional on his part either, and a good lesson learnt too.

She's just gone to bed and I've just cracked up I needed to let it all out and sorry you've all copped it. I think I'll have to put a 'no diving' sign near the tent.....

Oh hun, it is so hard to see or hear your little one when they are in pain.
You need to have superhuman speed and strength to stop lil ones from getting into things and hurting themselves.
Sounds like a few days I have had over the past 3 years.
I really hope tomorrow is an uneventful day for you and DD's lip is all better.

That's a hard day at the office hon! We've all had days like that, you're not alone. I put DD in a bath of really warm water the other day when she stepped in dog poo (bear foot!). I was too focused on getting the poo off her and stopping her from smearing it everywhere that I forgot to check the temp of the water! I felt terrible when i put her in and she started stepping her feet up and down saying 'Hot!' but she was fine (it wasn't hot enough to burn), just a bit shocked.

Glad to hear your beautiful little girl got through the new experiences
