my dog keeps getting out of our yard and running away.
we have managed to get him back each time.
he doesn't do it everyday, every week or even every month.. just randomly sometimes.
he has a big yard... toys... food....
i just don't know what else to do to keep him here.
we have put up extra fencing against the original fence as he was pushing through that.
now he is gettting through the smallest spaces and he isn't a small dog.
he ran yesterday when both dh and i were out... but today i was here and he knew i was here even.
Its so frustrating with an escape artist. I suppose one thing is putting it on his collar on a tag "I'm xxxx, I am an escape artist whose family loves me, please phone xxx so I can go home"
Most escape artists start with a trigger, in my house its when someone walks their dog past and no one is home... then our labrador will dig until she hits the other side and run for her life... she loves it. Unfortunately, she's also quite... ummm..... dumb. She runs in the middle of the street and just is silly. I now have to lock her up on the verandah when I am out in order to keep her in. I also now have to take her for longer walks in order to stimulate her and give her exercise.
