Question 1.5kg loss in a week - ok yes?

Ok so I'm a few days off my due date, and I weighed myself this morning, and I've lost 1.5kg since last Sunday.

I weighed myself at the same time (early in the morning, before breakfast) and the only difference is that I did a wee before my last weigh in. Wearing same clothes.

Last week I didn't eat entirely well, I pigged out a bit on chocolate (and paid for it later!) but for example, I ate (on my own) an entire bag of fantales. In one day. Plus a lot of chocolate biscuits. So its not like I've been dieting - far from it. So now I'm more than a kg below my pre-pregnancy weight.

Bubs has been super active today - so I'm (for once) not worried about how she is doing in there. I however, have extreme insomnia, I'm lucky if I'm getting half an hour sleep during the night, and if I have the opportunity to nap during the day, sleep just doesn't come to me.

Could my insomnia be a reason for the weight loss? I'm so tired that I get dizzy when I stand up for too long, and this afternoon I had to lie down (tried to nap, didn't work) for about an hour to get my energy back up because I just couldn't move. Even typing a text message was hard work!!!

I'm on iron tablets too so I don't think I'm low on iron. So I'm guessing its just sleep deprivation?

Oh hunny wow, big hugs. It sounds like you're struggling a bit. How is your diet other than the junky stuff, are you eating reasonable meals? Have you still been vomiting and had gastro? If so I would be going to talk to your gp or midwife about it. 1.5kg when pg isn't very good! Plus not sleeping like you are would be doing some sort of havock too. Wish I was there to help! Our kids could rampage together while you had a rest at least!!

Sterla - yeah some sleeping tablets would go brilliantly right now if you have some spare I'm doing ok, just thankful craig was home today to wrangle the monsters and cook dinner for them.

Lilias - yup diet is good otherwise, I haven't been eating any junk cos it just gives me the runs, but I splurged this past week haha. My meals are smaller, but they are definitely not defined as diet meals! Normal meat and vegies kind of thing. Or vegetarian type meals. Can't eat too much at night cos I suffer horrific heartburn and then get the runs anyway.. ROFL!!!

Thank GOD this is the last pregnancy.

I would say that bubs is just growing and sucking as much from you as possible. I hope you can get some rest before bubs arrives

I lost weight before DS was born, although I'm not sure it was that much... I'm with RhiChiChi, bubs is still growing and getting all the good stuff ready for the big trip! The insomnia wouldn't help- awake for more hours= burning more calories. Make sure you're still keeping hydrated and ....hang on a second, did you say you're a kilo below your pre-preg weight??? Sorry, just did a mind flip... yeah as I was saying, make sure you're keeping hydrated and eating well so you've got some good energy when the big day comes. If you're worried at all, go and get checked out x

I lost 2kg in the last two wks of my 4th pg because I just had no room left to put food and m/s had returned so I just lost my appetite. It wasn't a concern though, it is just something that happens.

Thanks Rhi. Hope it's not growing TOO big in there... Lol

Krystals - yeah I was just over a kg heavier before I fell pregnant than I am now at nearly 40 weeks. Insane right? Lol

I drink a lot of water in the evenings because I get so hungry. But if I eat, I spew. So I know what I prefer!!!

Trill - thanks mate, that's reassuring to hear.

Hey hun, i lost a kilo in the week before my DD was born. Apparently it is not uncommon, thats what the midwife told me anyways - maybe it's an indication that bubs is coming!!! DD came 2 days later hehehe

bubs is probably sucking all the nutrients out of whatever you are eating....therefore you are depleted...which can cause havoc with your sleeping.....
