My 3 Year old will not eat anything!

As the title suggests, my 3 year old DD will not eat anything unless I hold the spoon up to her mouth and threaten to put her in her room. I know she is hungry and she gets so crabby as she is hungry. Any advice? I even give her her fav things like strawberries and cherios for breakfast but she sometimes never eats or has a pick at the strawberries and cherios and leaves over 4/5ths of the meal in the bowl.

Stop feeding her yourself. After a couple of days she will eat herself. She won't starve.

Ok it's a bit of tough love, but it's what I did with my kids.

    Good luck!

has she got a sore throat or a sore mouth?

Have u tried making a fruit milkshake like banana, milk and yoghurt or ice cream? Often DD won't eat but will drink something like that.

^^If she's all ok with no pain like mel_cur suggested I wouldn't worry too much. You just might need to put up with the crankiness for a while, but she won't starve herself. She's probably just exercising a bit of power, she'll eat when she gets hungry enough. Careful with offering too many different things after she knock you back on the first few things or you might be having to do it all the time. You know she likes what you're offering already so don't stress she'll eat agian

Kanda - I am having the same problems with my 2 1/2 yr old son, and he gets constipated because he doesnt eat alot of fruit of veg. and the doctor told me that it is just a power trip at the moment and to give him some tough love and refuse to fed him anything that he wants untill he starts eating what he is given. She said it will be tough for a week or so but after that there shouldnt be any problems.

    I hope that helps

I've written a similar thread here. He's still not eating much. Though will try things sometimes now! A small victory I suppose....

We are in the same boat here too.

We went through it with DS and he has gotten a lot better so they do eventually start eating!!!
