I am a busy mum of three kids under three soon to be four. I have ling hair and always have it tied up. I am sick of it and want a change. Any suggestions?
Don't cut it off, seriously!! I have had loooong hair for years and decided I wanted a change - I cut it off and now instead of taking 5 seconds to scrape up into a messy bun/ponytail when I'm pressed for time, I have to stuff around with straighteners and styling products for ages and usually get frustrated and end up scraping it back into a messy bun anyway!
Keep it long, and maybe opt for a change of colour, get a blunt fringe (a longish one is flattering on nearly all face shapes!), throw some layers in... different doesn't necessarily have to mean 'the chop'!
Short?
I would go short if I had the courage
Mine is long too (past my waist) and it is always in a pony tail...I hardly ever wear it down.
I understand your want for change...I am probably not much help though.
You really need something easy to do...I know with my lot I don't have more than 5 min in the morning to do my hair.
I someone can help you with more suggestions...I will be interested to read.
Keep it long maybe cut it into a v shape though you will find it feels short but looks long and you can still throw it up into a pony!! Then decide from there if you want it shorter
ok, I went to the hairdressers saying that a few years ago because I was sick of wearing my waist long hair in a bun basically Every. Day.
but unfortunately the hairdresser's idea of something different which is "quick and easy" to do in the mornings was a very flattering style which took about 20mins in the evenings and another 20-30 minutes every morning to do, plus a small fortune to buy the product and get the maintenance trim every 6-8 weeks ...
so after about 6 months, it was shoulder length, and I went to a different hair dresser, explained the issue of what had happened last time - and had almost an identical repeat performance, except the new cut took only 15 mins at night - but still 20-30 mins in the morning - and not too much $$ for product ...
not sure how much the maintenance cuts would have been - because I never went.
so 2.5 years on, I have finally grown my hair back to its original length, and you know what? It's in a bum almost every day.
Im with Glamour, go for a fringe and wispy sides, or change color. Lowlights or hilites are always good cause they dont have to be re-done every 4 weeks. Or get it cut to the middle of your back and ask the hairdresser to teach you a quick up-do. Really long hair is too hard to do anything with cause its too heavy.
Because my hair is so disgustingly thick (seriously, hairdressers are always astounded by it) I find getting my hair thinned out to within an inch of it's life makes doing my hair soooooooooo much easier. Even when it is longer it is easier to put up, easier to style, straighten, everything. And, I usually get a few layers put in just to make it a little different.
I had all mine chopped off so it's like a Gretel Killeen style. I have super thick wavy hair and it just annoyed me all the time having to do it and now I give it a quick spray with water in the mornings and comb it and I'm ready to go - 2 minutes tops. But if I am going out anywhere for the day or at night I will blowdry it with some product and fluff it up a bit and it still only takes 10 minutes. 6 months ago I had it a bit longer because I toyed with the idea of growing it out, but just to straighten it and make it look half presentable took the best part of 30 minutes.
I have a super easy short hair cut. After having long hair for 8 years, I took the plunge and LOVE it. I was very honest with the hairdresser that I would do NO styling, don't even own a hair dryers and don't use styling products. I wash my hair and then comb it and that's it. I think it probably depends on your hair dressers and also your type of hair. I have a side part at the front, and it is long enough to tuck behind my ears, it is short, quite short, at the back with short layers in it. It can't go up in a pony tail. It is great!
