What did you buy when pregnant with your second child?

having all our baby stuff still from DS I'm wondering what people do, or buy in preparation for their second child.

what did you buy or use with your second bub that wasn't available or you simply didn't have for your first?

obviously if the baby is a girl we will buy lots of pink, and Girly colored clothes, and decorate the nursery different... But what else did you do differently 2nd time?

    What worked for you?
any thing you can think of.... We will find out the sex in two weeks but until then I'm bored

I had 29mths b/w my first two...both girls. So even though DD#1 was only 20 mths when i fell pregnant, it felt like yonks since i had had a newborn in the house. I bought a new rocker (FP one, battery operated that sings, and vibrates etc). New pram (with a toddler and newborn, i needed a double one). Pink linen, new ornaments for her room. I went nuts on clothes...i remember she had clothes in sz 000 still with the tags on which she never wore...so whilst some things were useful....i prob could have held back on the clothes a bit...esp being my 2nd girl.

My second will be a different season to DD, so even if I have another girl, alot of the cloths won't fit at the right times. So once I know what I have may still need more clothes.

I haven't bought anythign extra yet, but in saying that I haven't organised everything yet and will have to wait to see what I am missing/needing.

I'll be watching this thread though as it might prompt my memory as to what I am actually missing.

I was going to get a double pram because I have no faith that DD will walk beside the pram. I think I will go through all the old clothes and see what else I need. If it's a boy - I will have to buy all new clothes.

I think I will still buy a few new outfits because who can't resist looking a little baby clothes!

Although I'm not pregnant as yet, next time I'll be buying a swing (one of the Fisher Price ones) for the baby as well as a new pram with a capsule.

We bought the toddler seat for the pram, a new carseat for Ds so his seat could be turned back around for the baby. We bought a co sleeper cot. And of course new clothes cos she was a girl

    I think that's about it!

This time we just need to do carseats again to fit 3 across the back seat. Everything else we still have.

    I bought:

    - New mattress for the cot (reduces SIDS risk)
    - New mattress protectors
    - Boyish sheets
    - Cloth nappies, including some cute boyish customs
    - Boy clothes

Great thread M2R! I'm kinda baffled as to what I will "NEED" (maybe not go so nuts on baby clothes this time around).

I will definately need a new carseat but instead of another convertible one like I have, I will upgrade DD to one of the toddler ones for 12kg+.

I have awesome condition rockers/playmats/jumparoo/jolly jumper etc so the accessories aren't too much of an issue. I might have to look at selling my Babyjogger city mini and getting a double pram of some description. Or I could just put DD in the pram and bubs in a sling hmmmmm

If I have a boy this round I will definately need new clothes for him. Everything for DD was super girly sans a few onesies and jumpsuits!

We bought a double pram, a bassinet (we borrowed one last time), some clothes (don't need alot, same sex at the same time of the year) and a carseat(toddler one for ds1). I am also planning on getting a new carrier, some new sheets etc for bassinet and cot and a new going home outfit for cupcake

With the 2nd - Capsule, seat/sling for the bath, double pram, breast pump, baby carrier, baby/safety gates.

If we have a 3rd bub we will need to buy EVERYTHING because we gave away or sold most of our baby stuff. Things I would get this time but didn't with the other two are a swing/rocker(automatic one), slings, maybe a play pen type thing even though I really don't like them but I think with older kids into lego and stuff I'll probably need it if I need to put bub down quickly.

One of the things that I've been disappointed about is that having a second of the same gender, my shopping opportunities have been severely limited! However I have still managed to buy what I consider to be the bare essentials (hahaha!).

    I've bought:
    - A charcoal Close Baby Carrier (because I felt that colour more suitable for a winter baby!!!!)
    - An arms reach co-sleeper (second hand off ebay)
    - 0000 and 000 all in one suits (my first bub was a summer baby and this one is winter)
    - New carseat (this will be a gift from PIL)
    - Double pram (Baby Jogger City Mini Double - pressie from my parents and brother)
    - Peanut shell baby carrier (just coz I felt that having 3 slings wasn't enough)

    Still to buy:
    - an outdoor swing that I can hang from our back porch. My SIL says that hers was the best ever as it meant she could be out in the backyard with her oldest watching her play whilst the little one was safe and sound.
    - Breast pump

I think that's it (and probably enough!)

    - bedding
    - a carrier
    - cloth nappies
    - bottles (if needed)

We are planning on getting a tandem pram and a second cot. DS will be 21 months when his sister arrives and he just isn't ready to move out of his cot yet. Other than that I have just bought a few clothes for her. I am considering whether or not we should buy/rent a cradle swing for her (it was so good when DS was little). We bought so much stuff brand new for DS (almost all gender neutral) so as to save money when we had our second bub.

ETA: we are also buying a second-hand carseat to last bubby between when she grows out of her capsule until we pop her in a Maxi-Rider.

for my second bub (DS) I bought:

a basinette... only because my mum was staying for 2 weeks after the birth & sleeping in the single bed in DS's room, he only used it for 2 weeks then into his room in the cot.

    Cloth nappies

    HUB sling

I ended up buying a maclaren stroller too... I would have had that for my first but my XH wouldnt allow me so I was able to save to buy one myself by the time DS had turned a few months old I think

A few boys outfits (99% of his boy clothing was either hand me down from my nephew or second hand from vinnies)

Blue cot sheets, again from vinnies

a FP swing, bought off ebay but good as new!

I THINK thats about it Its ALL been sold now! LOL
