Nope I couldn't do it as I am a sook!!!! BUT if you are happy she will be happy and comfortable and know family well enough do it!! How exciting for her.
Ok. I am off Croatian background and we travel fairly regularly back there. My dad is possibly going again this year for the European summer for approx 6 weeks in July/August/September. There is the possiblility that DD (who will be 7.5) can go with him. We (me and my DH) will not be travelling this year to Croatia.
So would you send her? She is familiar with the places she is staying (has already been there twice including last year), knows our family very well and would be well looked after. In fact she loves it so much over there that once she hears my dad is going she will be begging us to go too.
It would be essentially up to 6 weeks of her swimming all day every day. She will be in a small village with lots of children so she will have the company. She can get by with the language as a lot of people speak English and she knows some Croatian.
But she is only 7 and I would miss her.But it would also be fantastic for her to go.
Nothing is 100% decided yet if even my dad will go but I thought I better address the issue before it comes up.
Would you send her?

Absoloutly I would, how amazing that she gets to embrace both cultures, good on you xx
Yes, I would. What an amazing experience for her. She is of the age where she will remember & she will cherish lifelong memories of a Summer spent with her grandfather.
Had you have asked me this 12 months ago, I would say no way, but now we are living abroad & can see the cultural benefits that it's given our children, I now say yes!
Think it over though, really discuss it with her, your father & your DH & draw the decision from there.
Good luck!
Yep i think she is old enough to go and I would send her! Especially seeing as she has been there before, is familiar with the culture and speaks some of the language. Mmm summer on the Adriatic!!! Jealous!
I went to England with my Nanna when I was 10 and stayed there for 7 months. It was a fantastic time for me and I got to meet most of my rellies. 6 weeks is not really that long and I'm sure she would love it. As it is your dad who is going I'm positive he will look after her.
Yep I'd do it too.... What an adventure!

I love the idea of it, but i don't know if i could send my daughter away for 7 weeks, it's such a long time. But i guess that shows more about me than anything. As i child i hated being away from my mum and Dad. I never went to a sleep over until i was in grade 6 i think! Once i stayed at Grandma's for what was supposed to be one night, i was 6 years old. My mum got appendicitis and had to leave us there for a week. I was quite traumatized by it all, i never wanted to leave her again! Maybe that blurs my judgement.
sure would! we are hoping that our DDs will be able to do similar things as they get older and can stay with our family in italy and holland![]()
