I have some conflicting information about platelets.
I know what they are and what they do. I was under the impression that it is common for platelet count to drop during pregnancy and they just fix themselves up again eventually post-birth. I was also under the impression that there is nothing you can really do to make them be produced faster in the body, and that no panic button is hit until they hit a count of 50 or below on the blood tests.
My Dr however is having a bit of a freak out becuase mine are 88 now.
I am not worried. I did have a PPH that landed me in ASCU when I gave birth to DD, but this time the Dr has arranged to have a unit of blood and a unit of fluids on standby just in case I need it. This time, the hosp staff will be prepared and informed, and that suits me.
So no stress here from me...but she's worried.
Should I be worried? My thinking is that my platelet count is not something I can help.
