OK, so shoe repairers ain't what they used to be and I'd probably have to trek into Melbourne to take my boots to be repaired cos there ain't nowhere around here that could do it.
I have some mid-calf boots and the zip is buggered. D'you reckon zips can be fixed/replaced?
I can recommend a place in Melbourne if you are interested, I had mine repaired there.
It can be a bit pricy and it may not be worth it if your boots are not great. I justified it for my boots as I loved them and knew that the chances of me
a) finding a pair I liked to replace them OR
b) finding the time to find that elusive pair
was going to be slim to none. The way I looked at it was that the cost of the refurb was steep, but cheaper than the cost of new boots. I have had 2 more seasons out of the refurbed boots now, so worth it in my opinion.
Only problem is that they will need to be left for repair which means two trips for you...
ETA: Errol St, North Melbourne to be more precise if you are wanting to avoid the city. At least it is on the right side of town from woodend and there is good coffee in the vicinity!
Yep, if you could PM me the details jackrose that would be great. My train stops at North Melbourne so it wouldn't be that bad a trip and I could get DP to pick them up. I LOVED the boots, they were perfect for my needs so I could justify a repair bill as it will stop me buying another pair.
Hi Fiona,
I tried to PM you but your inbox is full!
The shoe repair shop is
64 Errol Street North Melbourne
93290715
It is in the main shopping part of Errol St right near the Library and Town Hall.
They are lovely guys, but sometimes not great with punctuality to either let them know you are coming from far away to pick up or just ring before you do to check they have them done.
