if i play a classical cd will my baby hear it or do i have to put headphones on my be
i am 17 weeks now and just starting to think about playing music to my baby. i am hoping that any calming music played now might help to calm the baby after birth as it will remember being in the womb etc.
has anybody else tried this?
i'm wondering how close or loud the music needs to be.

You don't need to use speakers on your tummy, just playing it at a normal volume that you'd listen to it while being in the same room should be enough
Music is so great for babies in the womb! My belly was going crazy while in the car before on my 1hr drive as I was listening to the radio - baby was loving it!!
thanks!
i was thinking if i have to put the speakers on my belly i don't get to listen and enjoy the music too. so this is better. i love music so i'm hoping it will help my baby.
I thought the same thing and the other day got my laptop, put ear phones in (One on my tum and one to my ear) layed on the couch and we listened to my wedding song together. It was such a sweet moment that I really recommend it plus I am convinced bub moved around after a tad more which was awesome. I had it medium loud but cos it was classical music couldn't hurt and plan to do it at least once a week. So I say go 4 it hunny!.x
i rekon it really does work, and it doesnt even have to be soothing music! I listen to rock/hard rock and a couple of cd's that were my favourites during prenancy got played A LOT! Now when bub is unsettled or having trouble getting to sleep i put those cd's on and she either calms down to sleep or settles happily just sitting on my lap listening to it! I dont remember if she was more active or not in my belly when these particular cd's were on but it definately worked for me, i started using the ipod in her cot to get her to sleep (i would leave the room while her eyes were still open) when she was about 4 weeks old. Now she's 3 months old and loves Metallica and AC/DC!!
