What age is it ok to go from sleeping bag to sheets/blankets?
DH is 20 months, and in the last few weeks has asked for his sleeping bag/grow bag to be 'off' when going to bed. There is one that we have stoped using because it seems to small across his back, but now he seems unhappy with all of them. BUT, what age is it ok to start them in blankets, and how??? He still moves around a lot in his cot (so not ready to put him in a bed), but when doing that how do I keep him with a blanket over him (it gets pretty cold here)???
Coming into winter, I'm worried that he is going to get cold if he is not in a sleeping bag. What do I do??
We just layered DD up in a singlet, grow suit and flanny PJs, then tucked her in tight before she went to sleep. Then we go in before we go to bed and relocate her to under the blankets again
Otherwise Target make sleep suits, polar fleece all in one numbers, complete with feet, that go right up to size 6 or 7 I think. Just saw them last week! That might help keep him warmer!
If he's resisting the sleeping bag, might be time to get rid of it...
We didn't use sleeping bags, so I guess my answer is any time! We did layers of clothes as well. Knitted vests were great, pj's where the top buttons to the pants so it doesn't ride up, or one piece pj's with feet on them.
My kids just didn't take to sleeping bags at all.. they are like me.. like to stick their legs out the blankets hehe. No way I could handle my feet being trapped in a sleeping bag. Even now when camping, I open up my sleeping bag and use it as a blanket so I can poke a foot out LOL. So yeah.. warm clothes were the go here
My DS is nearly 2 and still in the cot due to him moving around at night.
he has been sleeping in a sleep suit since last winter (12 months) and they are fantastic!! He has lots of room to kick his legs around and move all over the cot.
Last winter we had him in a snugtime sleep suit which is a 2.0 tog (Approx$40-$50). Under he wore a long sleeve body suit under it and the heater was on.
ATM he is in a target Sleep suit and has a singlet body suit under.
Thanks for that everyone...DS slept under a sheet and a blanket last night - getting very excited about being 'tucked in'! Very cute. I now have my fingers crossed that we get a nights sleep without him waking!
Maybe now to search for a little pillow for him as well...
