    leotard sizing...

so DD1 needs a purple leotard fr dancing and seeing as i may not find it in the shops in looking online..im worried about sizing as shes tall and skinny, i find it hardto buy bathers.
so are they similar sizing to bathers? smaller? larger?

I found while doing gymnastics the bodies are quite short... now I am 24 and the last time I bought a leotard I was 16... but I always found the bodies too short and I don't have a long torso at all! Maybe measure from collarbones to crotch then ask how long the leotard is?

You should be able to get one at a dance shop. I think she'd need to try one on tbh. Because as you say, like bathers they can be tricky and not a lot of room for error. Too tight and it's not comfy and no-one likes a front wedgie, too loose and it all hangs out?! There are a few specialty dance stores around....

There is a big looking one in Dandenong. Maybe ring them. Dance Art Australia. And they have a photo of a girl in a purple leotard!

You could go for the sizing, and then maybe get a better idea.... then try ebay!

I bought leotards for my girls from a dance shop in Eltham last week - but managed to get them sorted from the clearance bin otherwise we would have been looking at $50 upwards per shiny leotard! They only had small, medium, large sizes and she had to try a couple on to get sorted.

Try Bloch. There is one at Doncaster. They have a sales rack. I have never paid more than $20 and they're good quality. They are a small make. DD is 4 (average size of a 6 year old) and in a size 10-12

Is it for a one off or long term? I know a place that hires out dance costumes and they post australia wide.

What size is she normally? DD1 has 2 pale purple leotards in ChildSmall size - one with short sleeves, one sleeveless. What does your DD need? I can get one to you to try out if you like?

You can come try one if you like Jols...just leave it a week or so till we are not so contagious.....LOL. She may need a custom, what we call a 4 long or 6 long etc. Basically we add an inch or so to the length of the standard pattern. But yeah not for a week or so, the whole family has the dreaded gastro....I am just home from the hospital after three and half days and now my parents have it......bugger bugger! Feel free to ask questions via email etc though...I don't think you can catch it through the computer screen...LOL!

eta: you really need to try one on cos the size/measurements are never the same as the child's actual body measurements due to the stretch in them if that makes sense.

I'll live...just really really washed out and stuff.....I am definitely better than I was on Sunday night that's for sure! Thank goodness for private health insurance is all I can say because I couldn't have handled the estimated minimum four hour wait at Frankston Hospital that's for sure.
