    4 year old still dribbling?

My DS has always been a dribbler. For awhile we thought we were out of the woods as it had stopped. But now it is back. Sometimes it can be most of the day, sometimes just the afternoon. It really depends, the worst of it when he gets a string of it hanging down. Today at preschool he didn't dribble, then all afternoon he was dribbling. Should I take him to a pediatrician? Did your child do this? Thanks from an anxious mum!

I would get tonsils and adenoids checked - my son dribbled constantly until his were removed (he also got tonsillitis - they weren't removed because of the dribbling lol, but it can be a side effect). Good luck!

How's his speech development? Dribbling can be due to muscle tone and control issues in the tongue, throat or lips but I would expect this to also affect his articulation. I agree that tonsils or adenoids could also contribute. I'd have a chat to your pead or even a speech pathologist (as they also deal with oral motor / feeding / swallowing issues). Hope you find some answers.

My niece had this problem. They took her to a speech pathologist, who told them that they just needed to remind her to swallow. They did that for a few days, and that was it, she got the hang of it and it stopped.
