I toyed with the idea as well. I went onto her website and printed out the flyer she has and then came in here and went on the BLS thread and found that was enough.
I also just skipped the whole puree part of some the of the kids cook books I have and went to the older babies part where the finger food starts and went from there.
I decided since DD was our last baby, I wouldn't get value out of purchasing whole books.
Perhaps see if you can borrow them from your local library and if they don't have it in stock, request they get it in for you. I quite often look for books at my library and if they don't have it they have a 'request' for them to purchase and you are the first one in the queu to borrow.
I love my BLW book and couldn't do without it - despite also having this thread.
There is so much information about gagging and choking, goes into the history of purees and BLS etc. I still refer to it even now.
I wouldn't bother with the cookbook though, the BLW book itself gives you loads of ideas and if bubby is eating what you're eating anyway then there's no need.
Why not get it out from the library and see if you like it before you buy it? Otherwise I got it for $16 from the book depository and that was free postage too.
What Sue said! I found the history & theory really interesting. I don't have the cookbook, but haven't felt the need for it. The reason i like BLS is that bub pretty much eats what we eat.
