Good luck tomorrow! I hope your little guy starts to chub up!![]()
We have been under a dietitian at the public hospital for my DS4's weight issues (FTT) but I have not been happy with her at all...she only does phone reviews and has never even seen my DS.
So I have gone private and we have our initial consultation tomorrow.
I am really looking forward to speaking to some one one on one and hopefully getting some ideas to help my little man beef up...and maybe one day even get on the weight charts![]()

How did you go at the dietician RainbowBrite?
Thank you for asking Laranna
I forgot to update...so much going on.
She was really lovely!
We went through all his history and his diet and she was shocked that the other dietitian would want to take him off pediasure...she thinks that he should stay on it until 2.
His length follows a curve ( below the charts...but his own curve) and he is doing well developmentally so she doesn't think it is FTT...she thinks it is more a calorie thing.
He seems to either not absorb enough calories or burn them to fast for his little body to grow.
His weight is no where near the charts (for corrected age or actual) but the problem is that it does not follow any curve...it is more a line. He should be at least 1.5kg heavier to be following a curve.
So we are continuing the calorie loading (cream, butter, olive oil, avocado, cheese etc in food) and three milk drinks a day morning cup pediasure, afternoon cup milk and last evening bottle pediasure.
I see her again in a month.
I am happy to have found someone who really listens and seems to 'get' my little man
Sometimes there is a difference between public and private.
Thats really good im glad she listened and actually looked at his charts
That's great to hear! I'm sure with the calorie loading in the food, you'll notice a difference in the month. DD had a flat line for almost 3 months off the bottom of the chart and once we started solids with the calorie loading she hopped back up to the 3rd percentile and is following along on that curve. It will take time, but your little guy will catch up eventually![]()
We have been calorie loading since he was 6 mths old without a lot of difference...which is why I didn't think taking the pediasure away was a good thing...fortunately she agreed.
I am not as worried about him getting on the charts I would just like to see him following a nice curve...his own little curve![]()
Hopefully keeping him on the pediasure will do that.
