    cert III in children's services

at some stage i will be returning to work. i'm not 100% sure what it is i want to do, but i'm pretty sure i don't want to go back to being a marketing manager. and since having DS, i've really regained a passion & interest in education/child development

has anyone done the cert III in children's services & if so, did anyone do it via distance learning rather than on campus? i'd prefer to study from home at this stage but it's all new to me - i've been to uni but don't know how to tell if an org offering this course is reputable or not

    Hi Sloane

I did a Diploma of Childrens Services through mixed mode education. Distance wasnt available all those 10 years ago but I have done a few courses via corro now and I LOVE IT!
I think anything through OTEN is definately reputable, I know we had a few girls who had done the Cert III course through 'private' schools and they didnt have all the modules to move onto the Diploma, but that was easily remedied and they just picked up a bit if extra work iykwim.
Good luck with it, I found it to be a very interesting course

I did mine through OTEN. It was great. At the time, but OTEN has had some massive shake ups lately, so couldn't say how it is now. But, yeah, do it through an actual tafe, not a private provider, is my recommendation.
Also, you can probably pick up a traineeship and get paid to study, or at least start working and claim course fees as a tax deduction.

I was going to suggest doing it as a traineeship. Not only can you get paid on the job but you also get some bonus' back as well. I don't know what they are now as they tend to change ALOT (and I haven't worked in that area for over 12 months now) but i would definately look into it if I was you.

I looked into doing childrens services via correspondence about a month ago. Have a look here, they are highly recommended in the Child care industry and nationally recognized and also offer courses via correspondence good luck
