Question DTD close to the end?

    Hi girls

just wondering what your thoughts are on DTD close to EDD? It's said to be one of the things you can do to bring on labour (when you JUST HAVE TO GET THAT BABY OUT! ) so would it also be possible that if you are DTD it could bring on labour early? I have 4 weeks to go and whilst I am getting uncomfy, I wouldn't want to have bubs yet unless he/she decided it was time.

Am I overthinking this or is there some kind of do/don't when it comes to DTD?

    thanks

Yes, your over thinking it. Its meant to be something in the sperm that helps bring it along but u will need ALOT of sperm and chances are, it still wont happen. Bub wont come until it deems itself ready to. Sex wont have an impact on it HTH

PS. Get all you can in now because you sex life will be non-existant for a while after bub is born

having sex can be good for bringing on labour if you are about ready to go anyway. It should be safe to DTD now without bringing on labour unless your body is threatening labou already. HTH and have fun

its safe to DTD up until you have bubs. in saying that, i went into labour the day after we DTD. lol. but i was only a few days before my due date.
there are so many old wives tales in regards to bringing on labour. (i tried them all). bubs wont come until he/she is ready. there is so much more ur body has to do to prepare for labour/birth than simply having baby jiggled around. lol.

We DTD right up until the day DD was born.
I had to be at the hospital at 6.30am to prepare for my C/S and at 4am I gave up on sleeping (nerves, I only got about an hour at the most) and woke DP up very seductively and DTD.

I have to admit, I didn't bleed that much after my C/S so one day I was barely bleeding we DTD..... 6 days after my C/S!!!

It didn't do anything here DD was 9 days over.

DH also wasn't up for it coz it felt to him like I was "using" him...

This is what the OBS told me - you need a tonne of sperm to make any difference, so unless your body is ready it is just for fun. We tried it & it did nothing, I went 9 days overdue :/

I reckon if you feel like it & you can find a comfy postition, go for it... like Mumma Mia said, it might be best to get it while you can

Prostaglandins, an enzyme in semen, will help rippen and soften the cervix.
But nothing will 'send you into labour' unless you are ready to go as the girls said.

So go and have fun!! The biggest obstacle I found was finding a position where I could have any rhythm, so to speak lol... It was unco sex all the way here in the last few weeks!
