    just out of cuiousity

    Hi
    Ive just been wondering...
After having a successful pregnancy with IVF, how long should you wait after the birth will you have to wait before going in to start treatment again?

Good question hun. I wouldn't have thought it would be any different if you had the bub naturally (ie no IVF treatment) so if you wanted to go soon after your last bub arrived I would think it would be OK. I thought I wanted another one soon after my last DS was born but to be honest it was such hard work for me I've only been really ready for the last 4 months or so.

I think it also depends if you are breastfeeding. A lot of the IVF drugs arent recommended while breastfeeding apparently.

Mind you, I am not the best person to respond. I am still waiting for it to work a first time!

    I don't think there's any 'should' really.
Breastfeeding can certainly affect your fertility and you need to have your cycles happening (at least to some extent) before you can go back to IVF. Some drugs are also dangerous, so there's that to consider.
I would think you'd want to wait a little while, to give your body a bit of a break and concentrate on the baby. I suspect most FS would probably want you to get to 6months post-partum or something like that before going again.
I was too buggered to even contemplate it till DS was 18 months...
