Question Hand Towel or Bath Towel

I'm wondering what would be the best size towel for taking to a gym. I can see an advantage in each: hand towel is not too large to cart around, but a bath towel can be draped over equipment. I'm thinking of a gift for someone so I'm not at a gym myself to check out what other people take so I thought I'd ask in here.

    Thanks.

Depends on what they do...hand towel is great for gym work like treadmills / weights etc but if they do classes like Pump or Combat, then a bath towel would be better because you put the towels down over your mats or on the floor and lay right out on them for abs and floor work.

So I've been of no help in helping you decide!!

i take a (lets call it a) shower towel :P
Small than a massive bath towel, but larger than a hand towel. A bit like the size they give you at hotel.
You could check out a sportswear store and see if they have towels, I used to have an actual 'gym' towel that was the perfect size. I have no idea where I got it though

I take a proper towel because after a run I'm dripping with sweat and there is no way I'm prepared to go out in public without a shower and fresh underwear (if there is anything grosser than inner-thigh/butt crack sweat I don't know it) and if I'm doing a class I like a towel under me if I'm on the floor.

If they never break a sweat then a hand towel might be ok.

I have a small bath towel for the gym. If I'm going to have a shower at the gym, then I take one of my smaller bath sheets in my bag with me.

    Thanks all.

Between the replies I've decided on searching for a larger hand towel, or a 'shower towel' as per Krystals description, after trying a few sports stores for a proper gym towel. The person does cardio work and heads home straight after the gym so I think that should suffice.

I feel better in my decision now. Thank you.
