Present ideas for a 6 yr old boy??

We're attending a friends son's birthday in a few weeks and he'll be turning six.... I've never bought a present for a boy this age before!

Ideas please!!! What are they into at this age?? He's pretty active, always outdoors....

    Do they like Ben 10?

6 yo boys LOVE gross stuff. I'd get him a bug catcher complete with magnifying glass and a shovel, maybe an ant farm too.

I got my nephew a few travel board games for his birthday. Apparently he and his younger brother love them, got them from toyworld - ones like hungry hippos, operation etc.

I like getting games for this age group - things like Jenga, Yahtzee, twister or something. Otherwise if he is outdoorsy maybe some kind of outdoor game or new basketball/soccer ball?

Those simple balsa-wood model airplanes/gliders are a big hit with active kids - they get to build it and then to fly it.
