    Questions about conjunctivitis

Hi all. DD has just woken up with a very 'goopy' eye - lots of yellow discharge and I'm assuming it's conjunctivitis. (Sound right?)

    1. Do I need to get her treated or is it a 'keep an eye on it' scenario?

    2. I understand that it's very contagious - do I need to keep her away from her swimming lesson tomorrow or her mothers-group gathering later in the week?

    TIA

hey mate, you can get drops over the counter from the chemist. i would go and get them right now if i was you.
i've just looked in my fridge and they are called chlorsig.
i would say no to swimming and MG this week.

If it is later in the week then I would see how it goes over the next few days. You can get Chlorsig eye drops over the counter now, they will clear it up fairly quickly as if it has discharge it sounds like the type on conjuctivits that will respond to eye drops hun. Good luck with it - we had a shocking round/s here a while ago, we all kept infecting each other so make sure you wash hands lots and surfaces etc. to prevent it spreading and reinfecting.

Thanks ladies. Got the eye drops from the chemist. Fortunately (though not so much for the poor pup) the dog has an eye condition that requires drops morning and night so DD was actually quite pleased to line up with the dog and get eye 'medicine' and a treat!!! Here's hoping it clears up quickly as Thursay's meet is a birthday party for all the mother's grp kids and would hate to miss it.

    Thanks again.
