    Cool Flannel Flats and Snibs

    hi all,
with our first DD, the hospital provided (and washed!!) flannel flats and snibs to use over the top whilst we were in hospital. We found this awesome because it meant we didn't get the tar newborn poop all over the beautiful bamboo-terry/hemp-inner prefolds that I made. Unfortunately cause we've moved and going to Sunshine hospital we have to provide our own nappies this time, but we want to go with the same system (and just wash them ourselves), but I'm struggling to find Flannel Flats and then have to get some snibs too. I've spent some time googling, have tried Kmart but they only had a couple of packets of Terry Towelling flats, came across a couple of online stores that sell the flats but can't find anywhere that sells snibs.
Given I'm 34 weeks along and been suffering from pelvic instability I don't want to keep traipsing everywhere. Have heard Terry White chemist might sell them and I have one near me so I can try that. but just wondering if anyone can direct me to a shop in south-west Melbourne or an online store that sells both??

    thanks all!!

Ohhhh, the dreaded hunt for good flannelete flats! I have just done it!! Target sells the Big Softies brand which I believe are the only ones worth buying. I wanted two packets (they come in packets of 12) and could only get one at a time. They sell out super fast! Maybe ring around a few stores to see if they have any in stock so you don't have to waste time going there to find none. Not sure about the snibs, what about the Chemist Warehouse??

    Hope that helps!

You could buy nappy flannel from spotlight and cut your own. I hemmed mine as well, but you don't necessarily have to do this.

Target was a success story for me today! got 2 packets of the beautiful big softies nappies, $30 for 12 so not too bad! Plus they've just got winter maternity stock in so I finally have a jumper for this cool weather yippee and scored a 1/2 price long sleeve top as well
Aligater - thanks, I have plenty of snappies but looking for the plastic snibs to use with the flannel nappies for the first few days

If you want to buy online, you can get Imse Vimse organic cotton flannie flats. We used them, as well as home-made prefolds that were flannie-bamboo-flannie sandwiches (and make great pocket stuffers later!) and home made prefolds upcycled from a local laundry services ripped up and donated towels.

thanks for the response, but I wasn't looking for the eenie snibs, I'm just looking for the disposable ones they use in the hospital. My Doula is gonna try the UFS in Ballarat cause she knows ppl who have got them there before

Hi all, I just wanted to share that we found some snips today! We came across them in the My Chemist on Elizabeth St in Melbourne (between Collins St and Flinders Lane). The company that makes them is 'Able Plastics', based in Notting Hill Melbourne. I googled them and found their phone number listed, so long as u make sure u're looking at the one in Notting Hill Hope this info can help someone!

I was reading all the posts and about to add the info you needed. I used these with one of my babies too and loved them for the newborn phase. I also cut some of my own snibbs out of breathable nylon and they work great. Goodluck with the baby!
