My poor DD has been sick for ages,
*she had that really yukky poos (which still happens now if she has anything out of the ordinary).
*Then she got a cold (4wks ago), which turned into a chest infection, cleared that up with ventalin, redipred and ABs.
*now she has another flu, her temps are 38+, shes fatigued (asleep on me already), struggling to bring up a cough, rattly chest, just generally looking and sounding unwell. She has another Drs appoint in a few hours.
My poor baby girl I just wish that she wouldn't get sick, If i could take it all on myself I would!
Poor baby girl! I hope that this is it for a while for her.
You can get inner health plus for kids that has an immune booster in with it - my DD takes it alright so it probably doesn't taste too bad. That might give her some more strenth to fight it?
Aw There are some awful bugs about at the moment.
Do you have a vaporiser? I have found ours to be SUPER helpful in the past for getting a good nights' sleep when particularly Phoebe got colds/coughs. We are currently living in a fairly damp house so I'm reluctant to bring it out again even though last night she coughed practically all night long.
It is so totally heart wrenching when they're that sick. Hope she bounces back really soon.
I do Snacks, But it seems to make her cough more!?! Might try it again tho.
I got both girls checked as her sister has the same cold.
And the Dr's think its a common cold, fuelled by asthma. But I dunno, I disagree. It's not a common cold, I would agree for DD1, her temp is fine, has the runny nose and a dry cough. But DD2 her temps have been getting high, 38+, coming down with panadol, her cough is wet, and she choaks trying to bring it up, her breathing is wheezy, shes fatigued. She wants to see her back on Monday and told me to keep up with the ventalin, and give her another dose of redipred (you do it in three day cycles)
Odd that it makes her cough more... that's not so useful! I find that if P's nose is blocked (like last night) then she coughs non-stop cause of the breathing through the mouth thing. The vapours help her to breathe through the nose. I smothered her in Vicks last night and will do tonight too.
Good that the Panadol is helping keep the temp under control - I imagine that's what's making her so lethargic and uncomfortable? Has she got any spark to her (ie does she respond or talk or become happy about anything)? I always try to look for some 'spark', even if brief, and that reassures me that they're ok.
Is she eating and drinking?
I've been putting on the vicks. And keeping her warm and the house warm. It hasn't been that cold here.
She still has some spark, we went to the park this afternoon for some fresh air (and I bribed all the kids I'd they behave and let me finish my assignment I would take them to the park) and she had some giggles and laughter.
But waiting for dinner her temp spiked to 38 again, and she got really sleepy on me, and that isn't her ;(
Will give her redipred (steroid) and keep up with the ventalin, panadol and fluids and hopefully she will start feelings better soon!
Perhaps you could put some slithers of garlic in her soaks, particularly over night. We all have garlic soaks here that we put on at the first sign of sniffles, works really well.
Injust heard that the kid she goes to day care with is in hosp with bronchial virus ;( poor little girl. Apparently is contagious this could be what the girls have
