In December last year I weaned ds who was 14 months old. As soon as I weaned my son I had my mirena removed as I started cramping and spotting alot and just wasnt happy on it. I expected the spotting to go away but it didnt. I saw the doc and had an ultrasound done and they couldnt find any cysts or fibroids which was comforting. The doc said that it is most likely a hormone imbalance and she put me on the Trifeme combined pill to stop the spotting. Well four -five months later I'm still experiencing spotting on and off all cycle long.
I have seen another doctor and she said that she has seen other women with this type of problem before and to give it time to settle. She suggested trying a higher dose pill which I'm planning on moving to at the end of this cycle.
I just want my cycle to settle. I am keen to just get off the pill and dh is considering a vasectomy. Would love to hear from someone who has had problems with irregular bleeding and has managed to make a full recovery and a return to a 'normal' menstrual period.
