Itch on hands and feet after delivery

Hi everyone,

Not sure if this is the place to post this. Bub was delivered 10 days ago - normal vag delivery and drug free. Yesterday I noticed itchy feet and hands. The more I scratch the itchier it gets. Anyone with similar experience? Has it got anything to do with the labour?

Did you get swelling/fluid retention in your hands and feet? It could be the swelling going down?

Are you on antibiotics or anything?

I did get swelling but it went down about 4 days ago.

I was given antibiotics because my water broke but not allergic to penicillin.

Can the drug syntocin cause this? I was induced cause my water broke

itchy hands and feet are the first signs of Liver failure.

Sorry to freak you out , but call the hospital, the labour ward and explain that and any other symptoms you feel, but think arent that bad....

I got the PUPPS rash in the days after DD was born. I didn't even know it was possible. I'd probably get it checked out though.

Liver failure? I have no other symptoms.

I've been reading up and thinking it is most likely PUPPS except that it is post pregnancy which I don't know if it is possible. Will monitor it. Looks like it has subsided a little.

Could it just be eczema? I got it on my hands and feet while pregnant but I don't know why? Just hormones maybe...
You're still very hormonal after birth. What does your skin look like? Do you have a rash?

I got hives on my hands that didnt ease off till i took antihistamine. They were so itchy and sore.

Dunno what caused them but thats what fixed it

A week after i got home from hospital after having DS, I had itchy hands and feet. It was a topical fungi I picked up from the one time I ran to the toilet without shoes on. Then i scratched my feet and got it on my hands.

If you haven't already. Go see your dr, they will be able to identify it and treat it.
