I'm looking at lashing out on a panel heater for our second living space, which is used several times a week but not everyday. I'm thinking a panel heater may be best for keeping the room warm over a few hours but potentially more efficient than an oil column heater.
Does anyone have a panel heater - esp a Noirot? Are they as efficient as they say they are? How quickly do they warm up? Is it worth the extra expense, do you think?
We have Econo Heat panel heaters in all the bedrooms. They are 400W as opposed to the 2000W or more that fan wall heaters and oil column heaters run at. They just use natural convection to gently heat the room. I usually put them on about an hour before the kids go to bed and it warms the room noticeably (even when it is snowing outside). They haven't raised the power bill too much considering I leave them on all night in the kids rooms.
That was probably no use to you lol, but maybe worth looking into if you only need to take the edge off.
We have a Nobo panel heater in the bathroom and it is great. Going to get another for DD's room (when she actually decides to sleep in there). We have it set on a thermometer so when it goes below a certain temp it goes on. In the bathroom, it dries & heats the towels and keeps the room beautifully warm. A bit extravagant, but i love it!
I dream of a toasty dry and warm bathroom!!! (I've been fantastising about heated towel racks for a while LOL). Thanks ladies, both very helpful replies. OK so it's never going to snow but considering we are on an elevation here it still gets pretty cold and it's not the most insulated house. I will check out both of the brands you mentioned.
