2 or 3 night 'babymoon' ideas please - Victoria

Hi Team! I was hoping to get some babymoon ideas...

Last week was mine DH's first wedding anniversary. It is a very busy and expensive time at the moment, with friends weddings etc & buying all the buns things!

So, we have decided to postpone any celebrations till the June long weekend as I have the whole week off and DH has the mon and tues off. So we are wanting to get away for a few nights to celebrate our anniversary & also have some time together before the bun arrives in August!

We live in the outer eastern suburbs of Melbourne and would prefer to go somewhere we can drive, happy for it to be a bit of a distance! We want to go for a few nights and would love somewhere we can walk to everything, breaky, shops, dinner etc. We are not fussy either beach of country but I would love it to be modern and nice.

We are happy to spend a bit but would prefer tp be able to spend the money while we are there, not all on accommodation!

So, can anyone help? Any ideas at all? Somewhere you may have stayed and loved?

    Thank you so much!

Edit: no Dandenong ranges please, we live really close to there

Holidays are right up my alley!!!!!

    I've been to the following:
    - Boroka Downs in Halls Gap. Not close to anything so doesn't meet your walking requirement but it was amazeballs when it came to luxury.
    - Window on the Otways. Again, not walking distance to anything but it was a quick drive down to Lorne. Very beautiful and peaceful.
    - Arcadia Cottages in the Dandenongs. You can walk around to the shops in this one and it was lovely. I'd recommend the Fernwood Cottage with the hot tub.

Otherwise you could get a modern apartment overlooking the Lorne shops. You could walk to everything there and it wouldn't be outrageously expensive.

    Otherwise Daylesford is fabulous.

Let me know where you decide to go!

Yay thanks FF! They are great ideas! Lorne sounds good! I will look into the other places you mentioned. No dandenongs for us as we live right at the base! I will edit my post! I'm also really interested in daylesford, as I have only been there once but for work!

We went to Lorne and had a wonderful time. We stayed at the Mantra which was nice, although the bed was a bit on the un-comfy side! But that could've been because I was pg!!!!!! It really is nice to get away. Plus going down to the beach in the colder months is really lovely because it's so nice and quiet!

We're heading to Lakes Entrance soon for our anniversary/ just need a break. I'm looking forward to it. It sounds really peacful.

I also thought of Echuca and going on a paddle steamer, but was turned off by the idea of disease carrying mozzies. I don't know if that will still be a problem in June.

ooo... Forgot I've also stayed at Mantra at Lorne. I knew I'd been there but couldn't remember. It was nice. Nothing spectactular, but clean, modern and right in the middle of Lorne.

I love Halls Gap! Its so pretty there. The Zoo is pretty cool too.

If money isn't too much of an issue, look at the Grampians Pioneer Cottages. They're awesome, and overlook the Zoo.

We just had a weekend away in Ballarat. Stayed in a gorgeous B&B 2kms from the centre and it was so quiet!! There are lots of little towns nearby that you can drive to, but you still have all the major ammenities.
I'd also suggest Bendigo if you're looking to go a little further, or even Echuca/Moama and staying at Madison Spa. We'd have gone to Echuca/Moama again, but we wanted something different this time and hubs has never been to Ballarat.

    Enjoy!

We went to The Grampians for our babymoon & loved it! It was also winter so it was pretty peaceful, loved having the fire going!

We've also had short stays at Lorne, though in winter we found there wasn't many eateries open for dinner.

lakes entrance, if you want to lash out a bit stay at either the bellevue or the esplanade resort and spa.. within 5 mins walk of everything and theyre both on the main drag.. (im a local)

either that or phillip island! its so pretty!
