Hi,
Being a first time mum I am always at a loss when starting something new. It's very frustrating sometimes . My almost 7 month DD has just started solids three times a day (mainly due to her horrid teething which makes her off the bottle, DD FF btw, and she's taking solids so much better than the bottle). Now that she's having breakfast, lunch and dinner I'm at a loss on how to pack her solids when we are out. And the thought of feeding her outside other than home makes me feel a bit nervous . DD's food is mainly homemade except for dessert. Her diet is mainly pureed vegies, fruits and just recently I added chicken and yogurt. I would really appreciate any feedback and advice please. TIA!
I use a small cooler bag with an ice brick in it. I bought really skinny ice bricks from the supermarket so there is plenty of room. I pack all DD food into small bowls with lids and or Tupperware or Heinz Baby Basic snack containers. Most shopping centers have parent rooms with microwaves so you can heat food if required. If I'm eating at a cafe, I ask them to zap DDs food (if required) for me.
I make a lot of DDs food but have always found Rafferty's Friend sachets excellent. No need to keep them cold, unless they are open, and my DD is happy to eat them at room temperature so they've been great when I don't have access to a microwave.
Yup a cooler bag with ice bricks in it. We usually would feed the boys the food cold or if we could heat it we would. If you are out you can also use the parenst rooms to feed...it can be very daunting at first
Thanks so much for the tips. And yes Boomba, it is very daunting. DD is fine with room temperature food especially since her teething. She loves her refrigerated dessert. I think it soothes her sore gum. And Taurean, my DD loves Rafferty's too. Will update on how I'd go with feeding DD her solids outside home as soon as I get the chance. DH and I are planning to lunch out this Saturday. Will give DD her lunch then. Wish me luck!
Good luck you will be fine...if you have to feed her jsut use a baby blanket over her if it makes you feel better....most people wont even look twice hun xxx
