    Getting a bit concerned

I am really worried now. Harlee is 10 months old and we had her weighed yesterday and she is 7.6kg.. I looked up on the chart and it doesn't look good..
She was in the 50th percentile from birth, and at the start of the year she was 7.2kg.

She is eating a little of solids, breast feeding maybe 7 times a day, and is very active.
What do I do? My health nurse is useless, and my doctor is useless, they always palm me off to each other. Should I try force feeding? Or do I breast feed more, or do I do nothing?

    TIA

At about 10 - 12 months, babies' growth does slow down. She is still putting on weight, so that's a good sign.
Is she generally happy and healthy otherwise? Is she meeting developmental milestones?
If everything else is fine, then from what you've written it doesn't sound like there is anything wrong, but you know her best. What does your mummy instinct tell you?

As your question is about Harlee's weight gain, and she is still breastfeeding, maybe give the ABA helpline a call...

If she's meeting her milestones and is generally happy, I wouldn't worry too much. Remember there has to be some larger and some smaller babies to make up the averages those charts are worked out on.
My little guy sat in the 5-10th percentiles for ages....he's OK. He still eats like a bird.

My dr told me not to use those charts, they are out of date and were made in the era of mainly formula fed babies.... my ds was 11kg at 1 year old and now hes 2.5 yrs old and only 12kg, so i wouldnt worry.

If she is eating and on the breast still I wouldnt be concerned, is she able to hold her own weight on her legs yet? stand up etc? (DS couldnt til 12 months but some girls are quicker walking )

I agree with Starfish, As long as she is making all her milestones other than weight... Id relax

she is crawling and standing by herself and very happy.. it's draining sometimes because she is so full of beans!
She doesn't look skinny, she still has rolls on her arms.
Although people always assume she is younger than she is.. like 5 months rather than 10 months.
I guess it's more so when people think Im under-nourishing her that is worrying me

i wouldn't worry too much, unless she seems overly exhausted and isn't feeding well. but you said she seems happy and is feeding great, so don't stress. i never use that charts, even when my kids were babies. i mean, are you and your DH average sized? not to be rude, but me and DH are kind of little people, and my kids are the same, i'm constantly joking they have hollow bones cause they eat so much but are so little! and me and DH were little as babies well. trust your instincts, i'm sure she's fine

    Tali - I've always had a 'runt'

At 10 months my DS had just cracked the 8kg mark, but he is (and always was) healthy and active and getting all his nutritional needs. I also used to find that people assumed he was a few months younger than he was, even now at almost 2 yo, someone at the shops though he was about 18months a few weeks back.

I learnt that I know best, you know what food or breast feeds your baby is having, and if she is alert, energetic and regularly eating and drinking then she is perfect

My DD1 was 7.6kg at 12 months and she is now on the 75th percentile for height and 50th for weight at 5yo - they go through growth spurts and often when they are really active they will go through a developmental spurt and then a growth spurt. If she is active, alert, developing, sleeping, drinking, weeing and pooing then she is probably just fine. Sometimes bigger babies slow down as they get older and get into their own groove as far as size and shape go. Some big babies slim right down once they start moving and end up being skinny toddlers.

She sounds like she's doing very well.
My boy also slid down teh scales. You'd never believe he was on the 90th percentile at birth

DD didnt hit 10kgs till she was almost 2!! if your DD is happy and looks healthy then she is probably just little. maybe try offering more bfs if she is happy to have them then fine, if not id just trust her, she knows if she is hungry, aslong as its on offer for her if she wants it.

dont let people make you feel bad, i used to have people ask if DD was ill or something as she was so little....she looks ok now, filled out a bit (12 kgs @ 32months), but i dont think she will ever big a big child! im another one who never used the charts or the MCHN, i felt i knew my DD and trusted that, i only saw my gp if i felt there was a problem, its easy to get caught up in what all these other people think our children should be doing etc.

If you google growth charts for breastfed babies, you'll find the percentiles are quite different. My boy always sat in the 3rd percentile on the chart in the back of the blue book but 50% on the BF baby chart. Booby babies and FF grow differently, sounds like your DD is doing just fine
