Spa Pedicure in Acrylic Nail 'fumed' salon safe during early pregnancy??

    Hi girls,

As the title suggests, is it safe to have a Spa Pedicure in early pregnancy in quite a 'fumey' salon?

I got a gift voucher for my Birthday, it expires tomorrow so I have it booked in for this afternoon, it would be soooo nice but not worth the risk of those fumes harming bub, I just know if anything happened re miscarriage or the sort, I would always wonder and regret being selfish and going ahead with the pedi...

Also I have read that certain pressure points/nerve endings in the feet can trigger labour/miscarriage etc and being a spa pedi there's a bit of massaging involved. Not sure how much to read in to this but it has made me a little more uncomfortable, I could always ask to bypass the massage (as hard as that would be haha!) but along with the fumes it's sort of all stacking up against me...

I'm not feeling too confident in going and have already offered the voucher to a friend but she is working and won't be able to use it and my bestie told me I was being silly and to go and enjoy...

    Advice?? What would you do?

It's a tough one but I avoided places like that when I was pregnant. I know you're feeling uneasy about it from what you've said so maybe give it a miss? Is there any way you could explain to them that you're in early pregnancy and get them to book you in for a couple of months time - or after a point where you might feel more comfortable?

Plus, I found that even walking past those places triggered my morning sickness. I couldn't have sat in there for any length of time even if I'd wanted to

I was uber cautious though, I am sure that there will be some ladies here who will reassure you that it's all good.

I cancelled straight after I wrote this thread, I am just too uneasy about it.. I have another friend who is absolutely delighted to have scored herself a free pedi for tomorrow haha!

Thanks for replying Sue! And yes would def also be a concern for the ms, even my favourite smells make me queasy right now, didn't even think how bad it would be in there, I wouldn't enjoy it either way so best to give it a miss. Thanks again! x

No problems babe! It's sometimes good to just ask the questions hey? Can never be too careful

For what it's worth, I had a pedicure in a really nice retreat salon (not one of the fumey ones) at the end of my pregnancy and I made it clear to them that I didn't want any oils etc burning and they were cool with it. It was sooooo relaxing having someone tend to my feet when I couldn't even put my own shoes on at that point
