    Question Bed Time Blues!

DD is 2.5 YO. She has always been a great sleeper - slept through from 3 months old and pretty much 12 hrs plus per night since....

But now she will not go to bed at night without me putting her to sleep on the couch first and carrying her to bed once asleep. It can take up to an hr to get her to sleep! She still has a day sleep of 2 hrs plus and is ready for bed by 8 8.30 at night. I have tried putting her to bed but she screams and crys and makes herself sick! I hate her getting so worked up so I get her up and get her to sleep on the couch again.

Perhapse Im my own worst enemy? But I hate seeing her so upset and I cant leave her there while she crys!

Has anyone had this trouble? And how did you get over it?

Its making me dred bed time so any advice would be great!!

Personally Id just go with whats working (putting her to sleep on the couch) and wait until the phase passes.
I wouldnt want to encourage any negative emotions (ie crying) at bed time.

we've been having issues and as of monday we dropped her day sleep and she now goes down within 5 minutes... i was ready and i dont think she is either to give it up but it saves the fighting at nap time and night time

    Thanks ladies.
I'm not going to let her cry at night - I dont want her to hate it anymore.

Olive - I tried that for a few days and it made no difference ag night bug made for a very cranky toddler during the day! And mummy!

Oh dear!! Is it so terrible if she stays on the couch with you til she's asleep? Does she lie quietly or squirm about, or cry or carry on?

Maybe, if you are happy for her to lie quietly til she's asleep, then tell her she can stay quietly on the couch with you or she has to go to bed - her choice. When she chooses to stay with you, then tell her she has to lie quiet and still or you'll put her to bed.

When my DD is fighting a nap that's what I do and usually she falls asleep watching TV, but she knows she has to lie quietly or I put her back to bed. Just a thought...

I guess it's not so bad OP! But I just am baffled as to why she will not go to sleep in her room at night! She used to and still does for day sleeps.
Yep she knows when she lays on the couch at night if she fiddles around to much then it's straight to bed and that's when the tears start.
I just hope it's a phase, it's hard to do some nights especially with a 5 week old as well.
Tonight only took 1/2 hr so that's not to bad.
